I've been following JO since his early beginning on cable TV. "15mn meals" and "Christmas Special". I really like is attitude! He also inspired me so much. I totally change my way of cooking and organizing by looking at him. He's a very simple cook…………but he's not. He's a good teacher……..that is what I'm trying to say. Seeing his children's getting older on the screen …………….. cute! JO understood the value of International video production very early in his career. I wouldn't mine having a pint with him!

@@AdamasMst : About 6 or 7 years ago while shopping at the grocery store one afternoon, I came across jars of spaghetti sauce with Jami's name on it. I bought only one jar of it much to my regret, not realizing it would be the best of any Jared sauce of all spaghetti sauces on the shelf. I went back a few days later for more, but there wasn't anymore left. There was never another shipment to the store. Do you or anybody else know what may have happened??? Does/did he also sell any other food in America, or was that just a freak thing to find it at this high end store. It was only a 12 oz jar, but the cost was nine or ten dollars, which I deem to be rather expensive. I think it was made in England...Any clues??? Thanking you in advance. EN... March 1, 2021

Jamie, since there's yeast shortage, try this and if you like it share it with everyone to make their lives easier...: 100 ml beer mixed with 1 table spoon of sugar and 1 table spoon of flour. Leave it in the warm room overnight, next day use it in the recipe. My family lived on this 'mock up' yeast during the war years in my country when food was scarce.

😋 I've made this soda bread several times now without the honey, and sometimes I added things like sun-dried tomatoes, olives, herbs, cheese (feta or strong cheddar my faves!). My grandkids adore making the cheesy version, and can make it without help because there's no weighing or faffing about. They also came up with their own sweeter version with raisins, sultanas and dried cranberries (no extra sugar or honey by order of Grandma lol!) I absolutely adore watching these two together; what a great dad Jamie is!!! 💙💙💙

William R Coffey, sure, flax is better for you raw so you could sprinkle it on after. I find flax Gorky so one might want to toast it and put something flavourful (rather than butter). But maybe it tastes dif to you.l like to add oatmeal but I cook it a bit first. Try adding your flax raw then try it cooked. This recipe is so variable it's very handy to know.

Sweta Ghorawat Hi, soda bread is Irish. I’m in Belfast using whole meal chapati flour in this simple recipe and it works very well indeed. I have been brought up to use the acid in buttermilk or milk and vinegar to make the bicarbonate give off CO2. It is a big surprise to find out that acid is not needed. Sodium bicarbonate gives off CO2 when heated!

Watching this in February 2021 as we inch slowly toward the light at the end of the tunnel. Jamie Oliver is one of the few chefs who understood the shortages we found at the store. I have heard chefs talk about using pantry items like truffle oil, things that most of us, especially those newly introduced to the pantry, do not have. I watch as they don't scrape bowls, and yes use an egg to coat the pie crust, as if we all can afford to waste food ever. This one was such a pleasure to watch. Heartwarming and thoughtful. Thanks, Jamie and Buddy!
