British electronic music in the late 90s/early 00s was something else. Groove, style, class, genius, the complete package. I was born in that era, but I'm now getting into Jamiroquai, Prodigy, Fatboy Slim ecc

@cormacbohren3175 Жыл бұрын
I don't understand how this could be considered electronic music
@bigpigeon2002 Жыл бұрын
its not a stretch to call this electronic. synths are electronic. a lot of these sounds would not be able to be made without electronic instruments. the sweeps in the background and that hook in the chorus, thats electronic. synth or a variation of a synth. theres a lottttttt of gadgets from throughout the years to make various sounds on. a lot of these sounds are not 'accoustic' - im saying that like that bcs technically bass and electric guitars are electric but not in a musical sense - instruments. im gonna stop bcs i can overanalyse this song for days of how it can be considered electronic. im a music student, im only 20, but ive got about 7 years of knowledge. taught and self taught knowledge. this song could class as electronic. 100%. a lot of songs and bands have several genres or prefer to stick to or use any genres at all.

The driver that had taken it by road from UK to the mountain roads unfortunately forgot to pull the handbrake and it fell over a cliff edge and got totalled. It's funny because his lyric, "I must have died and got to heaven - bout' a quarter past eleven - on a Saturday in 1999" seems like a nod to an early 2000's song. Yet, everyone including prince used to reference the Y2K year as some mythical thing that will never happen, and already somehow had happened. Indeed, the song is from 1996. Slap bang in the middle of the decade. I always recall in the 90's that I was sure the decades to follow would make me feel allegiance to the 90's in a way that was unusual. As an undeveloped child I really did believe that I was alive for the best decade in human history. Did you feel that?

LYRICS I must've died and gone to heaven 'Cause it was a quarter past eleven On a Saturday in 1999 Right across from where I'm standing On the dance floor she was landing It was clear that she was from another time Like some baby Barbarella With the stars as her umbrella She asked me if I'd like to magnetize Do I have to go star-trekking 'Cause it's you I should be checking So she laser beamed me with her cosmic eyes She's just a cosmic girl From another galaxy My heart's at zero gravity She's from a cosmic world Putting me in ecstasy Transmitting on my frequency She's cosmic I'm scanning all my radars We'll she said she's from a quasar Forty thousand million light years away It's a distant solar system I tried to phone but they don't list 'em So I asked her for a number all the same She said, step in my transporter So I can teleport ya All around my heavenly body This could be a close encounter I should take care not to flounder Sends me into hyperspace, when I see her pretty face She's just a cosmic girl From another galaxy My heart's at zero gravity She's from a cosmic world Putting me in ecstasy Transmitting on my frequency She's cosmic Sends me into hyperspace when I see her pretty face Sends me into hyperspace when I see her pretty face Sends me into hyperspace when I see her pretty face Sends me into hyperspace when I see her pretty face She's just a cosmic girl From another galaxy Transmitting on my frequency yeah cosmic, oh Can't you be my cosmic woman? @@michaeledwards5241 I've been thinking about this... The music is synthesizer heavy. So the violins, keys, drum machine, effects all synth. Most of the work is done by the synthesizer. So the Bassist was being treated unfairly because his instrument wasn't getting paid well. This is what kills bands. He was writing the bass lines I am sure and the synth was taking his bass lines and organizing around him. Then you pay the bassist less, he finds hot woman and see you later dude... I'm out... He should be playing with Jeff Beck.

one of the things that blows me away about this tune is that in the beginning the chords sound like they are falling on the downbeat, then when the rhythm section kicks in the chords become somewhat syncopated and it gives the tune such a distinct vibe to it
