If katakuri wouldn't react that way he did, it would feel like it's not that big of a deal for him, which it is, for his whole character. And the whole loosing his cool, failing to see the future, wouldn't feel right if Kat didn't get affected much. This is the way for the story to show how impactful that event was for the character, without it, we wouldn't really know so

What's up with Katakuri's mouth isn't explicitly stating in the story, but was given through other material. But I'll make it need a drop-down in case you don't want to read it anyways! At the Age of 3, Katakuri ended up eating donuts SO fast, that his mouth ripped open, thus requiring the the stitches. He also didn't acquire his Devil Fruit until the age of 5, so there was no free stretching from it. So yeah. Katakuri got his mom's ravenous appetite!

Fun facts: the 3 brothers who attacked germa nusstorte(capt crunch guy) baskarte(the fire vampirr guy) and dosmarche( fu-manchu old dude) are triplets and custard, cracker, and angel( the girl with like a green sweater cape and pink grass skirt and boots during the wedding fight) are triplets too. One of the funnest things was figuring out and learning about all the charlotte siblings and finding out who was the minister of what on what island of totto land ;)
