Netflix And Grime I disagree. Skepta, Pmoney and Dot have been in this game for 10+ years. AJ Tracey is probably one of the very few authentic artists of the Grime 2.0 generation. Jammer even credited AJ in his latest Tim Westwood set. Tinie Tempah, similar to Bashy, has always been a ‘ballerina’ ‘grime’ artist. No that that’s a bad thing.

I agree with Jammer. 10-20years ago artists were spitting for the love of the game - Back when there was no money in Grime. Boiler room and pirate radio sets were the training ground for many of the big grime artists we see today. If they couldn’t cut it, they’d get dashed. Simple. Nowadays, with social media its far too easy for artists to make a name. Its a gift and a curse.

Tbh I originally thought Jammer was just being a dick but tbf I can understand what he's saying. All he's saying to argue is that he is experienced business man and knows how this game works. He's not criticising Argue for not paying the MCs, he's saying somebody is making money from it and it should be the MCs. He's asking where does the profits go. Argue then says he has nothing to do with that side of it so Jammer is like well then who are you to talk about this then. If you're not involved in that side of things then you can't criticise Jammers operations. I think Argue focussed more on defending himself but he didn't listen and he didn’t understand what Jammer was saying. He initially comes across arrogant but he's speaking the truth

VAN PELT nonsense. reward just as respect is earned not given. They are called earnings for a reason. The come up is unfair and unfriendly just as life. What kind of culture are you trying to promote if you believe that any kid who is allowed to express himself on a platform is automatically entitled to be rewarded. Corporations use artists authenticity to position their brands, true, BUT at the same times how many creators use each others for personal gains? How many creators take advantage from softwares created by ingenious and hard working programmers? I suspect that Jammer hasn’t maintained decency with every artists he has worked with or he hasn’t rewarded the company of every single plug in he has used in his art. Why? Because the come up is not easy and you are forced to hustle and juggle. Corporations hustle and juggle too and if Jammer simplistic mind frame can’t acknowledge that after all these years it’s pretty sad and all his frustrations and narrow mindness are showing in this interview. I‘m not even mentioning his likkle jabs at Radar. Petty. Now how do we promote mutual respect between artists and platforms? Don’t know but certainly creating amazing art and displaying professional traits is a start on the artists side. All things that Jammer seems to lack of. Big up Argue for not keeping it petty and showing professionalism. But hey everyone out here seems to be looking for the “real”. Everybody is looking for something i guess.

Based on my own KZbin revenue on my main channel, this video turned over more than that. This is long format, 30 minutes , it’s also music advertisement so it gets good CPM, and maybe even business which is the best CPM. I’d say it’s earnt closer to a grand top end, which isn’t a lot, but jammer didn’t see any of that, and he’s the reason it doesn’t have 2k views.

DJ Argue knows damn well that KZbin pays for views.
@teddyburcke52317 жыл бұрын
Yeah he does, but obvs he's employed by a radio station he's not gonna start talking about that, because whilst he knows they get paid he's probably not gonna know the figures and all the ins and outs. So if he says the wrong thing in a situation like this, it could be bad for his job at the radio station. The more important thing is that Jammer defo knows hardly any money will be made off Argue's clash (currently 8.1k views, whats that worth? maybe £20?) and yet he still tries to claim theres no difference between that and LOTM. LOTM is an actual business and brand; the channel has 40,000 subscribers, videos have millions of views collectively, he's sold 1000's of cds, merch, charging for entry etc. Jammer just thinks he's a saint and won't listen to argue, even though Jammer at the start was talking about spitting on sets over multiple beats being what the scene was founded on smh. Shit Mc, shit promoter and has always overstated his role in the scene, couldnt even give a proper answer of MC's he's brought through or young guys he's rating

The fact that all Argue could respond to jammer was to say ‘im just a radio DJ’ shows that he has no valid reply to what jammer is saying to him. Jam is right, these youts should be paid a cut if THEIR clash is being viewed simple. Makes you think that Radar is a Small time radio show but has big has corporate mindset kmt
@firmingabriel7 жыл бұрын
Jammer's point is definitely a valid one but he has completely misdirected his frustration at the scene. His point about the KZbin views is wrong, go over and check DJ Argue's Hell in a Cell video and you'll see it has just broken 10,000 views. That amount of views on that video on a fully monetised KZbin channel (which Radar is not) would make you $15, which is £10. There would be literally no money being made off of the revenue of that video, is Jammer suggesting you ping each MC on that video 70p? The MCs who did that clash were doing it for the love of it, for the motive and for the exposure it brought. Don't think those MCs were being bumped. They aren't big names, they did it because it was a sick night and helps them get noticed.

We've let the likes of Levi's, Red Bull, Addidas etc. Make money off grime and probably never paid the youngers involved. Yet we want to ask for money from people like Jammer who are fronting their own money to make the scene prosper. OK man I'm gonna name a point that NO ONE has addressed here. There would have been NO argument even if radar paid the yutes for their TRANSPO. ANYTHING counts. artists need to get paid. I'm over here in the states thinking that EVERYONE that goes on radio, whether it be radio one, radar radio, rinse, tim and barry, etc., are getting paid. if they aren't, thats fucked up man. they should at least be getting paid for a meal/transportation. that needs to be fixed.. so jammer has every right to be upset. if you're not an artist, you guys don't know what it's like to prep for a show, it takes a lot of time and anxiety and honestly a meal/transpo money means so much to us on that night of the show. even if we don't get paid.

Na, that's just traditionally how radio, late night talk shows, or anything like that has been NONE OF THE ARTIST ARE GETTING PAID TO BE ON THE SHOW. I know it's a bit strange now that im thinking about it, but that's how it's always been. The artist are usually appearing on the show as part of a promo tour to promote w/e, and their compilation for being on the show is using the show's platform to plug their shit. It's very symbiotic relationship. I agree tho. I do feel like the show's seem to be benefiting the most by having the artist on their shit.

Ok a lot of you lot (including DJ Argue) seem to be oblivious to the fact that running a business that involves A LOT. Yes as Jammer says, a lot of the stuff involved with LOTM has its cost, PR. Licenses, Pressing DVDs, time and other things etc. Now cool Jammer has created LOTM himself from NOTHING back when he whipped out the camera and filmed Wiley and Kano and banged it on a DVD and distributed it and has elevated it to a point where everyone knows about it or came into the grime scene by coming across it. So now its at that point, he wants to give back to the scene and elevate people too. Now he has to Maintain the cost and levels of his product so people will continue to rate his product highly, this will involve money, (many examples, lighting for the set = Money, HD cameras = Money, Location = Money, Advertising = Money). Bruv, all these MCs have to do is write bars, turn up and spit them, Prove that they are worth checking out outside of LOTM, and leave. Jammer will do the rest. Free promotion done and all you had do was turn up?! Then the people has the Cheek to ask for 10 bags? Jam has already invested in you as much as he invested in himself. You as in MC should have used the platform to reap the benefits of the exposure, after that, release an album, mixtape on itunes, do your own shows and invest in yourself same way Jammer did and see how much the cost will be, especially if your a nobody that has no previous exposure, but the difference is, Jammer wanted everyone to benefit from his own projects in one way or another. DJ Argue is definitely just a DJ if he just did that show for the sake of doing the show because there is deffo a bigger picture in it business wise, Whether its a KZbin view, youtube subscribers subscribing, a positive image for Radar, funding, people tuning into more of DJ Argues show and more. Its that or he was just playing dumb to fool everyone he didn't have a bigger agenda for doing that hell in a cell or anything he does on radar. Hell, even this video is going doing all of the things I just described. Yeah Jam, its definitely time to be selfish cos people have no idea what you have done for them.

🤔💡 Jammer's onto something big here. Freely reinvest the sickest content into the culture so it can grow and thrive, but when big brands wanna get involved in what's going on here charge them seriously for it without compromise. Early on I made the same mistake of charging the culture and being gassed enough by brand interest not to even mention money when they have much more of it. That's what ends up killing/drying up the culture; not reinvesting into it, I think. We need more of Jammer's sage-like wisdom.

Jammer is a legend and his impact on the game can't be understated but he was being deliberately being obtuse on this , comparing 8k youtube views to 7 LOTMs DVDs, raves, merchandise, albums, Lord of the Decks AND KZbin views is sly, big point about the corporations tho
@Ayrzuh7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, is Arg and Radar going to be paying the guys in hell of cell quids n meal deals cause i cant see Radar making stacks off of hell in a cell lmao. Jammer paid the big guys clashing P's, then still made money off the top off it
@Riggersa7 жыл бұрын
also his point about Drake falls flat and all considering Drake's main association with grime is via BBK, watched this a few times to take it all in and he was chatting a lot of wass in this interview tbf
@thatdakin7 жыл бұрын
Ayrzuh they weren’t talking about how much it made, it was the same principal, lotm1 would of been the same as that dogshit hell in a cell he made, low people watching it even if it was Kano and Wiley the platform was limited back then compare it to now I bet jammer puts up close to 100k to make lotm7 all in all, what he makes back is a gamble argue could of just gave the yoots £200 or something a piece instead of nothing and make profits for radar on paying nothing, imagine if the hell in a cell went viral in the grime scene 2m views in a month they still would of paid nobody, jammer puts up the cash to the artist on lotm upfront regardless of what he gets back to better the scene and try to grow it, argue just totally contradicted himself with his points
@thatdakin7 жыл бұрын
Rigby drakes main association is with whatever’s popping, if u try not to pay drake or one of his boys they will shun u from the scene that he’s creating over there, that’s his point, he was talking about red bull culture clash not paying anybody even tho they have billions, they never would of tried that with American rappers the money would of been there upfront for them man
@kaydee14856 жыл бұрын
Rigby he really didn't, he's basically said there's nothing wrong with a cosign but people from the scene or area shouldn't wait for an outsider to cosign someone before they jump on them. If an artist is good, support! Don't wait for outside consigns.

Jammer is having his Kanye moment. He understands how the business side all works and is trying to throw breadcrumbs out there about how the Grime scene is being infiltrated from within. For me, the moment Grime becomes a huge genre is the moment the scene has undergone a takeover - with you and you and you over there even noticing. Same thing happened with Hip-Hop. Once those executives see the potential is something, they set sights on expoliting the scene. And this aint no quick ting. They've been watching since Grime's conception and have set numerous strategies to infiltrate, control and profit from all of us involved.... And to top it off, we won't be allowed in those top level meetings..... Just like what Kayne was saying.

I think the bottom line is, a lot of the older guys put in work for a long time not to make money but to build up the scene and create the platform for what's now UK Urban music and culture. Now theres new guys like Big Shaq and Ramz etc who are able to walk in and make money easily straight away. Jammers saying that if the new guys re invested in the scene it will be able to grow even bigger. I think theres a bit of jealousy that these guys are able to blow up make the sort of money that people like Jammer, D Power etc have never seen but then don't acknowledge the work and effort they had to put in to make this possible. Thats why when he assumed Jammer's got money he looses the plot and goes into complete Ork mode.
