In terms of price it’s expensive, In terms of value it is still much cheaper than the pc equivalent. So it depends on how much money you earn and if you really really want PlayStation games at mostly (upscaled) 4k at 60fps. Consoles are a luxury, not an essential - we all want products to be affordable but there doesn’t appear to be the same leaps forward in tech without throwing more power, more silicon or hardware at it. As a result all electronics are becoming more expensive and not less expensive to produce. It’s well known that consoles have been a loss leader product in the past - sold at a loss because money will be recouped from game sales and subscriptions. However, games are now more expensive to produce and develop as well. Somethings got to give. Especially as we all want cutting edge graphics, higher resolutions, increased frame rates, and well optimised (not buggy) experiences.
