I took a look at Jan. Looks like he has been around awhile. Looks like he took his time. No rushing. No chances. No hurry. I imagine this was NOT his first trip. Why are there so many people trying to tell him how to do it differently. I bet if it didn't work for him he would change it. But I imagine he has been doing this for years and this works just fine for him. Thanks for letting us ride along and good luck to you.

Ya man there's always someone or somebody that will tell you how they could do it better or how many things you are doing wrong. Thank you for filming this for all of us to watch!

i drive an 8 axle tri drive loggin truck and if theres one thing i can give the old man as a tip to help em out its that you always chain up the first axle because it allows you to turn better when you locked up trying to manouver in deep mud n ruts. On a typical day in canada during our winters i chain up 4 times a day. so you learn to be allot quicker. use your shoulders not your back when lifting chains
@greg6577 жыл бұрын
Aidan Snyder not disagreeing with you but if I had to chain up that truck I'd chain the back axle too. trailers in the wrong place. besides that your chaining tri drive, more space between axles.
@11SPOONZ7 жыл бұрын
Greg Or Jen you get less traction chaining up the rear drive, always chain yp the front drive because it takes on more weight and it chews up the ground for the next one or two axles depending on what country you live in (tridrive or tamdem). plus you wont drop drivelines as much
@11SPOONZ7 жыл бұрын
Greg Or Jen i haul logs down some of the shittiest roads ever, roads you cant even stand on without falling on your face
@greg6577 жыл бұрын
Aidan Snyder on a tri drive the axles are farther apart and a lot easier to chain up,either quads or trains. on his truck, his axles are closer together and he's gonna get real dirty trying to jam himself in there. I'm not disagreeing with your theory, only the practicality.pretty sure if that was your unit ,you would chain the back axles too and take your chances.btw, I haul logs too, tri drive quad in south, central BC. 2 sets for truck and 2 for trailer,mandatory.oh such fun! 3 sets for pulp..
@11SPOONZ7 жыл бұрын
Greg Or Jen hardley, they are spaced just about the same, i chain up my front drive on my tandem super b short logger and I run dirrection winter treads

Try using Trygg tire chains for your log truck... that's what we're using in eastern Oregon.. much tougher than those Chinese chains

I think the old guy should have chained both drive tandems, then the guys below wouldn't have anything to argue about, LoL... I did see when he was close to that red Dodge backing up the chains looked loose, but in that gooy mud I guess it don't matter much. I think If I owned that truck and logged in that mess, I'd have spikes welded onto the chain links. I had a set of V chains for my Jeep and they were awesome. I ran them in the rear where the Jeep was lightest and regular chains up front, coz I was plowing deep snow. Normally I simply run all weather tires.

Man that road is a steep mess on the way out. The cheapskate logger ought to put some rock down. That kinda shit tends to take the fun out of it.
@marshall57627 жыл бұрын
Should have chained the front axles instead, that's your power and grip right? And put a single up front. Less headache.
@SteelyPaw7 жыл бұрын
I agree about chaining the front axles. However I did see another well known trucker chain the back axle too. It's my understanding the front axle gets most the load and does most the pushing, and the differential lock in the rear is limited slip or the axles would bind up especially in a turn.

Oh yeah it looks like it’s his first rodeo. Chaining up Where he has room the work. We’re not all spring chicken
@northwestlogtrucker46915 жыл бұрын
Pete_ Hine_Of_PA because chaining the rear axle is a lot easier than fighting around the lift axle and when you have to do it into the job then take them off before getting on pavement it’s much easier
@stevejake43165 жыл бұрын
You always want to chain the rear. That's where your power is directed in that style of truck. You can chain all the rears but the fenders make it a chore. Iv done it for a while now.
@MRALBERT5714 жыл бұрын
The power goes through and will go to the right rear wheel that’s why the right rear tires wear out first .
