Central heating radiators seem to attract dust like a magnet. If you have the type that have covers grills, they can be hassle to get off.Buy a cleaning brush here using Jans Amazon store link. www.amazon.co.u....
Or direct product link here. amzn.to/2ZHqUiS

One of my radiators had a screw and that made it easy to take off. My other rads didn't and I couldn't get them off and figured maybe they weren't meant to come off. Thanks to this video as gave me confidence that a bit more effort would make it slide. It was very very stiff as they have been on for over 10 years but finally it popped off..finally I can clean the dust and oh my was there a lot :-( but it's gone now yay so satisfying!!! this was so helpful! Unfortunately I looked up your video after I found myself in a bit of a pickle. I took it off the wrong way taking the top grill out and leaving the side bits in, then I found it extremely difficult to put back on. There were two metal bits sticking out of the side grill facing upwards and I didn't know what to do with them, in the end I just folded them down with pliers and managed but I don't think that's correct! What should I have done?

Thank you for this. I have the same radiators but lately I’ve noticed some clothes moths flying from out of my radiators late at night. There is a lot of dust behind there and I don’t have carpet downstairs, just laminate flooring and carpet upstairs. I don’t want to use brushes incase there is a moth infestation behind there and I start disturbing them when they start moving about. Well, that’s what my mind is telling me. Lol. Overthinking it and not looking forward to it. But I’m thinking about getting the Henry Flexi Crevice Tool for my Henry Hoover to hoover up behind there after I remove the side/s and top metal plates to gain access. Also, I have Rentokil Insectrol Moth spray and Rentokil Clothes Moth Killer Spray incase I need it and some spare hoover bags. After I’ve hoovered behind all my radiators downstairs I will place underneath each radiator some moth traps to monitor moth activity but I’m hoping after I’ve done this the numbers decrease. To be fair I’ve never really hoovered behind my rads before because it’s not the easiest of places to hoover but seems it’s an ideal spot for Insects. Thanks.

be careful to hold the rad down with your wrist while you pull the cover with your hand (top bit). Because the rads are not fastend into their brackets, they just rest on them, and they are usually not expected to be lifted up (they rely on the clamped rad pipes held in to hold them - but on upper floors tha rad pipes can just be loose under the floor.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't realise it was so easy. My radiators are so dusty :-( Oh well, I guess I've got no excuse now. More housework for today then, yay. When I can be bothered, that is!

My radiators are very similar to these except mine don't have as much space below the nuts on the side so I can't see how I could slide the sides up. |They are Myson radiators about 14 years old so filthy inside. Any idea how to get the grill off?

When cleaning, it is a good idea to use a powerful vacuum cleaner to avoid inhaling the dust rising in the air. Regards

Ours have plastic covers that stop you from sliding the panels upwards, can you show us how to remove those?

Good vid. thank you, BUT my radiators confuse me, the top panel sits OVER the end pieces, and so won't just pop up like yours, plus the side panels don't have "keyhole" shapes for the pipes. just round openings, what can I do please.

Put the thin nozzle of your vacuum cleaner down it or slip one of those sheets for the tumble dryer down a slot, pull it out and the dust will be stuck to it. Roll the dust off and then go to the next slot. Tedious, but it works.

My radiator is slightly different, the sides do need to come off first but they don't have a keyhole shaped opening around the valve for the radiator bleed key, so if you pull the sides up they just run into the nut that's sticking out of the hole. Any suggestions?

They are a different model, the ones that do not easily come off.

I can't find any videos that show how to do this on radiators like mine. On mine the top grill overlaps the side panels, not the other way around.

3 of my radiators are this design and I couldn't get any of them off. Not sure how I can be doing it wrong and I'm a pretty strong person. 2 of them are kind of old so I can understand if they would be harder to get off, but one is brand new and I couldn't get it off. Frustrated now
