The Shimano Saragosa SRG18000F is an excellent reel for casting to big tuna! I always get guys looking to go fishing for tuna with a spinning reel that don't want to break the bank, and I always point them in the direction of the Saragosa 18000. Putting out a whopping 44#s of drag it is tough to beat! If you are in the market for an offshore spinning reel, do yourself a favor and check this one out!

Yes they are great and able to handle big fish. Holds 405 yards of 65 lb test braid.

@Dreegogary For popping it is great. For jigging it might be a little bit slow depending on what type of jigging you are doing. It is a fantastic reel.

Different manufacturers charge different prices. What you should look at is that the Saragosa has a lower gear ratio than the saltist which will give you more torque.

yes that would be a good choice or if you wanted to save a few bucks you could go with the new Quantum Cabo 80.

It is castable. It is designed for jigging and popping for large fish. What are you fishing for and where?

Also was looking at possibly a Stella 18000 or 20000 if I decide to spend the $ I am sure those reels will hold up I have heard great things.

I have a daiwa saltist 6500h I like it but I would like more drag for those big gts I pop for them with a 9 ft okuma Hawaiian custom gt plugging rod! Would the saragosa 18000 be a better reel? I fish from shore and also from the boat?! Any info would be great

@13098519 The more I look at it there really are no rods that meet your needs. Nothing that you can really use in the surf and then use on the boat for $160. You might be able to accomplish it with an 8' rod but it will be much more expensive.
