My internal aging is a concern for me, but it becomes even more extreme in regards to people extremely close to me whom I love. I tend to fixate on their interiors even more than my own. This partially stems from a fear that they will not live as long as me, perhaps from a tragedy or simply old age. Their health I look at with more regard than my own. -Kami

As someone who's mother passed away before she even had 1 wrinkle (bless those African genes) I have always thought of aging as an honour, especially seeing my grandmother who was so old and wrinkled but had all the nurses in the hospital complimenting her skin. 😂 I hope I have that honour.

I sprouted hundreds of gray hairs in a span of 2 months b/c of stress due to my previous job, my bf finds it endearing and I embrace it! But it is such a blessing to age... and when you live life RIGHT... you never get "old"... to live life like a child, to have "wonder" in your eyes still- wrinkles is one of the greatest gifts we can ever have. EDIT: and omg! When y'all discussed about the refinement we'll achieve at an old age --yes!!! Can only imagine me sharing how I learned "cycle-syncing" at 25 and will share that to my daughters, my granddaughters, nieces, etc! I hope they will be in awe at how in-tune I am to my body, the way I dress, the styling... there is so much to look forward to!

Omg same. I have my front section of hair that has sprouted a ton of greys and I’m only 25 and have African genes too. My family and loved ones in general are concerned and find it as a bad thing (funny enough I have a baby face and look like I’m 15-16 so the irony 😂). I honestly love those grey bits I have, idk why but I feel so beautiful and grounded with it. It’s a genuine raw part of me and I have always been told I’m very child-like in personality & that makes me think it’s because I keep that wonder in me alive. I’m trying to learn more though from remembering my mindset of the world when I was a child so in a way I’m aging backwards but I believe it’s making me more wise and happy within. I tell ppl I love my grey hairs and I thought to maybe dye my hair to do something different but I don’t want to get rid of those greys since I love them so. Plus the doctor told me there’s nothing wrong with me and that it’s probably genetic for me to be greying so young, so there’s no reason to feel bad for having them.

@@AngelX-xb2eo Yeah my dad had gray hair when he was in his twenties so I figured it was genetic for me 😆 plus a friend of mine had a lady tell him recently that gray hairs are a sign of spiritual powers (maybe we're more perceptive than others our age teehee ^-^) but I feel the same way about it grounding me as well. It is a delightful paradox to look young and have these cute gray hairs :') I guess the more we tap into activities we loved to do as children the more likely it is for us to get back into that state more easily... maybe I'll stop by a playground this weekend :p mwahaha

I guess women just have to decide how far they'll go to please other people who don't matter. As for me, I have a few boundaries - not many - but agreeing to feel miserable, ugly, and undeserving for 2/3 of my life to please a group of nobodies is a hard no.

I have SO many comments: Birkin and her iconoclastic feminine radical, and her music which I think explores so much of her view. Aging in France especially is so different than in America, the internalised mysogyny of the digital era let alone the wider world of the patriarchy, and as for death our fears are driven alot by neoliberal capitalism and the idea of always trying to win at life etc. I think I'll make a wee video response :)

Apparently PQQ pills are magic for gray hair. I have no gray hair yet but my doctor has seen a lot of her patients go back to their natural hair color taking PQQ

Sadly Jane Birkin had a chronic form of Leukaemia for about 20 years prior to her death and much of the alteration to her appear was caused by swelling on the neck that is characteristic of this form of Leukaemia. It wasn’t normal aging and Jane Birkin was beautiful to the last and always will be. Brigitte Bardot is almost 90 and practically a whole generation older than Jane so it isn’t the best comparison. In Europe especially the UK while plastic surgery is not as common but cheap Botox and filler is common especially in younger women and let’s just say it isn’t always the most aesthetic choice! I think it is more about attaining a certain look than trying to look young, it is in fact often thought to make women look older.
