Absolutely wonderful. I don't understand French, but don't need to with how clearly she demonstrates the movements.

The Katanishi Video shows stepping outside of the the rear-leg (far), while she is clearly stepping in between the legs (near). Can anyone comment?

+ollhashedfetish My understanding is that it is a matter of leverage and speed. As you can see in her video, the idea is to cause Uke to rotate on the foot that you want to attack. If you step outside of the foot, you are applying your strength far away from the axis. That's a long lever, allows you to produce a lot of power to do the movement. On the downside, it makes the movement slow. The closer you get to the axis, the faster the technique will be, but the more power it will require to force the movement. However the way she does it, Uke is the one stepping out and she uses that momentum to spin her. That requires great timing and produce a very dynamic throw. Have a look at Muneta's fantastic Sasae, and you will see he steps right in the middle of uke's feet. Huge throw with tons of spin. When you step outside of the feet, you have more leverage to force the rotation, but you create much less rotation, much slower. It's easier to do, but also easier to step out or counter. By the way, you should check out other videos from Katanishi on Sasae, you will see he also teaches it with the foot inside. Hope this helps.

+Sylver G Great Analysis. This will help attacking Sasae without leaning on the Osoto setup. I understand she's explaining the kazushi has a lot in common with Te-Guruma (or even a Duck-Under). I'd love to learn more.

Can anyone provide a breakdown? Is she saying the action is similar to Te Guruma?

+ollhashedfetish No. She is saying that once in a tournament, she saw a competitor engaged in that position, both were pushing each other, and all of a sudden Tori changed the direction to create the rotation and throw, and that's what made her think about her entry for Sasae. She started asking some experts about it and this is what she came up with. Afterwards, she demonstrates several entries into Sasae which recreate the same type of kuzushi: By coming in deep and close, she causes her opponent to rotate and she blocks the foot after the rotation is well under way.
