Circle deashi judo foot sweep
RvR or same-sided position (Ai yotsu) Circling de ashi harai
Make sure you have a dominant position! Use the dominant collar grip to rotate your partner as if you're going for sasae, forcing them to bring their weight off of the front leg to attack the trailing leg (creating the perfect timing). Don't take yourself off center while doing this. Once you circle and being attacking the de ashi, bring your partner's elbow in and chin to the side to create kuzuchi. Keep your body upright while off-balancing your partner. With enough momentum, both of their legs will come off of the ground. Keep your elbows in to provide more of an upwards lift.

This was great, thanks, I been tryin to find out about "judo movies" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Keyandon Judo Process - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my friend got amazing results with it.

I like to primarily use the uchi mata as a throw. But sometimes I use it to get my opponent on one leg so I can attack the far side ankle pick. if they react to the pick and jump and move the leg backwards I hit this sweep. Never practiced judo or knew what it was called but it’s deadly in freestyle wrestling and BJJ (when throws aren’t banned)

I was just practicing okuri this way yesterday. I'm not that advanced so I see no difference between a circular okuri and circular de ashi barai.
@andreywinter8399
@andreywinter8399 4 жыл бұрын
You showed "Okuri-ashi-barai", but you said "De-ashi-barai", or am I not understanding something? De-ashi-barai - Side sweep under the exposed leg (Yellow belt Kodokan Judo) Okuri-ashi-barai (Okuri-ashi-harai) - Side sweep in pace of steps (Orange belt Kodokan Judo) P.S. Sorry, bad English.
@yvindKveine
@yvindKveine 4 жыл бұрын
De-ashi and okuri-ashi tends to have many similarities in a "live" setting, key difference is whether you're sweeping just one leg or one leg into the other and thus taking both :) The last one he did looked like he caught both legs, which would technically make it okuri-ashi

I have met a problem when doing this: when I am going to sweep the trailing leg, I find it is far away beyond my sweep range. How to fix this?
@Selecta84
@Selecta84 4 жыл бұрын
Couple of things: Try to stay a bit closer to Uke, sometimes just a few inches can make a huge difference. Try not to look at your feet. When you bow your head your hips and ass bend and your sweeping range is limited (I hope that one makes sense, English is not my first language). And try to open yourself up by turning your non sweeping foot outwards. This way your range increases greatly. Simple test: Stand with your feet parallel and sweep. Your sweeping leg gets stopped by the knee from your non sweeping foot. Now turn your non sweeping foot outwards and try again. This way your hip has a more flexibilaty and your sweeping leg doesn't get stopped by your non sweeping leg. Really can make all the difference

No, it's okuri ashi harai.
@MrKuma2094
@MrKuma2094 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I thought that to at first, but he's sweeping low near the ankle and attacking only one leg, so Deashi-Harai. He is however focusing on a lift instead of turning the upper body, so there is some Okuri Ashi in there. He may be blending, which I'm great with as long as it gets the job done. But the Kodokan would call that a Deashi-Harai. Good eye though! 👍

@@MrKuma2094 Thanks, I tend to separate taxonomy from application as well. In taxonomy the name is important. In application the ippon is important.

@@kenwintin3014 Your welcome! In the Tome-like catalog that both Judo and Jujutsu have it helps to keep it straight for me. While the "Ippon" to me is less important than the "Kake". Just looking to drop the man, that's all.

Isn’t it Okuri Ashi Barai? Nevertheless a good tutorial
@Therealsenseiken
@Therealsenseiken 4 жыл бұрын
During his explanations it almost seemed he was going to do an Okuri. However, as the previous reply to your question said, the difference is the target of the swept foot. It's a subtle yet not so subtle difference. In the De Ashi Barai, you sweep the foot in front of Uke's other leg. During Okuri Ashi Barai, while technically a sweep, you are pushing the swept foot into Uke's stabilizing leg, knocking Uke's base out from under them, rather than relying on the unbalancing caused by the grip action (kumikata).
