Zelah Clarke is beautiful. She did such a fantastic job acting in this adaptation. Yet, her career was at a standstill after that, which is so unfair, because Timothy Dalton was still being recruited for all kinds of roles .

She is pretty, but in my opinion she does not fit the role. I know it's an unpopular opinion, but in my eyes she lacked Jane's depth and there was little chemistry with Dalton. Sorry, it's just my point of view

Zelah acted her heart out in this series. She is the perfect Jane. When I read the novel I imagine her in the part and of course Timothy Dalton as Rochester. It’s a shame her acting career didn’t take off after this series. The same happened to Jennifer Ehle in Pride and Prejudice over 10 years later.

Me gusta mucho Zelah como Jane, desprende una fragilidad y una inocencia casi infantiles. Hasta pone pucheros y todo. Cuando mete la mano en el bolsillo para sacar los 5 chelines se la ve tan indefensa, tan desprotegida que provoca una ternura enorme. Dan ganas de achucharla. Prefiero esta Jane a la más estirada y hasta un poco arrogante de otras versiones.

Es que ambas tienen razón a su modo. *Físicamente* Jane (quién recien tiene la mayoría de edad) es *baja, pálida y frágil* pero, *internamente* tiene adentro un *fuego pasional, una conciencia recta y limpia, un gran respeto por sí misma, valentía y una marcada inclinación a la rebeldía e independencia* (incluso después de su estricta educación, estas características con "suerte" disminuyen pero no desaparecen: son la esencia de su alma, lo que la hacen Jane Eyre). Es por ello que, incluso en momentos de cólera, en los que Mr. Rochester se vuelve loco y la amenaza con atacarla, una simple mirada suya puede frenarlo, a pesar de la disparidad entre la fuerza física de uno y del otro. Jane tiene una fortaleza interior más feroz que la de él, impulsada por una paz de conciencia con la que él solo podía soñar a ese punto.

Totalmente de acuerdo. El prototipo del hombre muy varonil. La mayoría de los adjetivos con que Jane describe a Mr. Rochester hacen referencia a esa cualidad. Por eso se establece una intensa polaridad sexual entre ellos

I actually think the acting of Judy Cornwell as Mrs Reed is excellent in this scene. Mrs Reed's physical pain, her remorse, her acrid and spiteful nature, all perfectly portrayed with just her voice and eyes even though she's unmoving in a bed. You can see why Judy Cornwell has had such a lengthy career. (P.S. go look up images of what she looked like as a young actress in the 50's and 60's, she was gorgeous!)

Edith Irribarren Jane Eyre, no es un best seller, pertenece a la gran literatura inglesa universal, Charlotte junto a sus hermanas Emily y Anna Bronte, fueron enormes escritoras en su época...Y Jane Eyre es una novela enorme de su tiempo. Saludos!!

The woman who played Aunt Reed, did a fantastic job. She showed the battle for her soul, which it seems unfortunately that she lost. She knew right from wrong, but in the end she sided with pride at the very last minute, she sided with pride and that’s a pity.

Creo que la risa de Rochester es por la "pilatuna" que está a punto de cometer, diciéndole a Jane que la mujer bondadosa que le renueva su corazón era Miss Ingram, sólo para hacerle sentir celos a Jane. Acuérdate que antes Rochester le preguntó a Jane si había sentido celos, respondiéndose a sí mismo: "por supuesto que no, jamás has sentido amor". Rochester se divertía con la inocencia de Jane, de eso no hay duda 🤣

@@RedCygnes14 I think he's laughing because he is frustrated, he has been trying to tell Jane how he feels about her and then he realizes she thinks he's talking about Miss Ingram. He actually insults Miss Ingram when he calls her a strapper

Я посмотрела всего штук 6 и ни одна так не тронула и не запала в сердце как эта инсценировка. Последние лет 10 смотрю этот фильм на немецком и в оригинале на английском- это супер! Какой дубляж у немцев! Какие оригинальные голоса у актеров! Учила английский на их диалогах. Советую!

Jajajaja tienen sus similitudes pero te aseguro que no sólo sus destinos los diferencia. Mr. Rochester está más cuerdo que Heathcliff y es más caballeroso que él, también. Ambos son oscuros y cuestionables pero es Heathcliff el que carga con una oscuridad, tormento y profundidad más grandes. Leí ambas novelas. Me gustaron mucho ambas aunque encuentro más pasión y desafío en Cumbres Borrascosas. Jane Eyre fue muy audaz en muchos aspectos, desde la protagonista hasta las problemáticas de la sociedad victoriana que toca pero aún así, Charlotte Brontë sintió la comprensible necesidad de justificarse mucho para agradar a los lectores y a la crítica y, medio que temía a la única novela de su hermana por ser tan sombría, tan poco convencional y normal. Le preocupaba que manchara la reputación de su fallecida hermana, pensaba que la inmadurez de Emily repercutió negativamente en su libro. Si tan solo supiera que se convertiría en un clásico de la literatura inglesa, aclamado por la crítica y respetado...

Bueno, Rochester no está seguro de que ella lo ame, y como es bastante retorcido (porque Rochester es un personaje con muchos matices buenos y malos), la incita con el tema de Blanche para ver cómo reacciona. Pero ella es una chica muy recatada y aunque lo adora, no puede mostrarle su amor, debido a la diferencia de clase y la jerarquía que la separa de él. No creo que a Rochester le frene la edad, pero sí el hecho de que habrá de cometer bigamia por tenerla.

@@reinadegrillosEn esa época victoriana (mediados de 1800) hay muchas historias de amor donde los protagonistas tienen esa diferencia de edad. Ellas entre 16 y 18 y ellos en la treintena temprana. Parecería que esa era la formula. Mr Rochester podría ser un hombre de 33 años y ella tenía 18. En el libro Bronte lo describe como "past youth but not middle aged", Y por el estado atlético incansable que tenía no podía ser un hombre maduro. Estaba en plena edad de merecer y enamorar. Las mujeres se casaban inmediatamente cuando llegaban a la pubertad y estaban aptas para concebir. El no le confiesa su amor en ese momento porque después de todas las traiciones que había sufrido con mujeres, y por primera vez había encontrado la que estaba buscando por años, estaba aterrado de que ella no lo correspondiera y aunque le manda en varias ocasiones señales de su amor por ella, ella no las percibe porque fué criada en un ambiente puritano y está inmadura para el amor de un hombre. Y además como Mr. Rochester es su empleador y pertenece a otra clase social, ella no le demuestra sus sentimientos a pesar de que a esa altura de la historia ella está mortalmente enamorada. Mr. Rochester procede con infinita delicadeza. No la acosa ...no es el momento ...

Ich weiß nicht, diese Jane ist etwas zu steif und nonnenhaft. Zelah war in Realität nur 9 Jahre jünger als Dalton. Jane ist ein junges Mädchen, 20 Jahre jünger als Rochester. Das wird hier nicht originalgetreu umgesetzt. Ein junges Mädchen mit 18 Jahren ist wesentlich wilder und lebendiger.
