― Lollapalooza music festival turned 25 years old in 2016, and to celebrate, GoPro teamed up with founder Perry Farrell to make a mini-documentary about his life and the rise of his band Jane’s Addiction.
'Ritual De Lo Habitual' released in 1990, celebrated it's 25th birthday (2015), in this documentary Farrell talks about the controversial cover art he designed for the album. Most of the footage was shot in Farrell’s home, and the rest features footage from Jane’s Addiction’s Lolla set over the summer in 2016.

The poetry in this video, made this video. I was born in 79. I loved music so much in the 80's I can recall many videos, mostly The Cars, or even Bon Jovi, Thomas Dolby, Striper, Def... So many hair bands but so many synth/electro bands. That was my foundation. In the end (it sounds funny to me now being that I'm 43 and well... to me it seemed like the end back then) I found that 90's "grunge" really hit hard at home. As a kid who had been in foster care, in the Children's Home of Jefferson County... In "the system" far too young due to parents who just didn't understand me or what I was going through, I had bands like Jane's Addiction and many others... The Smashing Pumpkins and the pain in Billy's voice when he sang "Today", that I felt that I could only feel. Everyone thought that the song was about a great day, however I so lucidly at the time felt the pain of suicide in the song. Pearl Jam, Tool... Sober... I could go on forever about the bands that saved me. Had it not been for Jane's Addiction and the spit that came from their lips, I would not be here today. I love your video. If my parents were not mosquitos I certainly would not have become whatever it is today. Whatever it is, it is more than a ghost and an apparition living in this world from my former self. Such a great band that will NEVER know the influence that they have had on my life. If I could tell them, along with Kurt, along with Veder, along with Corgan, specifically along with the Plush "narrator" Scott how much that they not only saved my life, but prevented me from conforming during that transformation of a broken winged sparrow into an Eagle walking the mat at the Tomb of the Unkown Soldier, I wouldn't... Only because I think that they would despise the fact that I marched to a drummer's beat. It would take far too long to explain to them that even in the military, even in The Old Guard, I marched to my own beat. I butted heads, and I fucking stated my point at all times. I loved my country but I loved myself more, and if that pisses anyone off that's too bad. I maintained my identity in an environment of those whom had lost or traded theirs in the sake of patriotism, and I survived. Not by my own actions, but by the music that guided my actions.

I freakin' love Jane's Addiction to no end...but man, the "strippers" onstage kind of undermines the futuristic-looking spiel. One thing is putting yourself among two women in a beautiful paper-mache-looking piece of art. Another thing is this. Let's evolve a bit, man. Jane's Addiction's timelessly brilliant music deserves that.

So from the time period back in the day I would say it’s just him running his vocals through a pre amp and vocal processor. The think that drew me Janes was the echo and delay on the vocals then watching them live my mind was blown because I have been doing it for 20 years now and just now became a fan. But pretty much the box is an encased effects rack. At this point there’s really no need for it onstage but i equate it to trying to replicate what they were doing back then before sound men were using i pads and the singer could just have some tweak and trigger his vocal effects. This is the real deal and a mark of a musician who wants to touch their settings and play. The way his vocal echo on into the distance and carry songs!!?? Yo he unlocked some shit and I’m so sad was ignorant of them before because I LOVE delay and echo in hip hop and experimental reggae and dub 😊
