Beyond this being about Ted Bundy, it’s also a damning criticism of the 80’s excesses and dehumanizing effect media can have on the minds of certain people. The album was recorded and released in 1988 , and was the death blow to the 80’s hair bands and the spark for the grunge rock sound that bubbled up a few years later.

Yeah, content-wise, this track isn't easy listening but "Ted" is the centerpiece of the _Nothing's Shocking_ album, it's one of the band's most important tracks, and the transitions / instrumentation are epic 🔥. If I knew you were going to hit it, I'd have suggested "Mountain Song", "Summertime Rolls", or Dave Navarro's 🔥 Red Hot Chili Peppers album first. Don't give up on Jane's, "Ted" is a one-off. The song can be interpreted in a number of ways. Written in '87, in part, as critique of our cultural oversaturation & desensitization to violence, the false equivocation of "sex & violence" parroted by the American Right in the 1980s, and as pointed response to Ted Bundy blaming "porn" for his murder spree - hence "Ted, Just Admit It". At the time, "Ted" was very much in keeping with the rise of the anti-sexual violence/pro-feminist/anti-capitalist Punk/Grunge bands like Nirvana, Bikini Kill, Sonic Youth.

Hey Tre, I understand where you’re coming from. I knew this song was going to be harder to digest than the others, but I sent it to you because no one else has reacted to this song. The content is iffy and questionable because it’s about Ted Bundy the serial killer. Thanks for reacting!

for a much better song about a serial killer try the song The Ballad of Tv Violence (I'm not the only Boy) which is based LOOSELY on Richard Speck the serial killer. It rocks as a song though.
