The original writers made a huge mistake killing Tom and Grantly. That should've been a massive hint that the show was ending FOR GOOD

@@jacobmassey3897 They didn't actually want them to go. Well, Grantly I don't know- but for Tom, the reason they made it the roof scene was to give him opportunity to come back the next season, he could have possibly survived. Jason however didn't want to come back.

@@ClipCrew they'd already ruined Grantly as a character by softening him up and making him the father figure to a bunch of unruly kids. He was great in the Rochdale years because he simply didn't care and was more interested in the horse racing than actually teaching a classroom full of no hope chavs.
