I wish someone would show which tape works best after being on paper for several weeks. Some tape has a great seal. So great in fact that it rips your paper upon removal.

I tried to remove tape from my drawing board after a month. It took the varnish off the board! Imagine what that would do to paper! Remove tape from paper asap. No tape can stay on paper for long without damage.

Do both #1 and #2 picks pull off without taking paper with them? Thank you for the super tips!
@elaeria6 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. I have been using Scotch brand tape for my alcohol ink painting since the beginning because it sticks well, gives crisp lines and can tolerate heat without curling. The only thing you can't do is get any moisture underneath. When you apply it, the surface has to be dry. I feel like that goes without saying, honestly, but thought I would mention it. :) Great comparison video! Thank you!

It would be great to see you compare them all on different weights and brands of water color paper. Canson 140lb cold press vs Arches 140 lb cold press for instance. Arches is much more textured.

I’ve had trouble with tape tearing my paper even when I try the tip of putting it on my pants first etc. I’m really surprised the scotch didn’t tear the paper!! I’ll have to try that.
@DancingQueenie4 жыл бұрын
Sherry Put it in your pants?
@lizday81404 жыл бұрын
@@DancingQueenie it's a technique where you place a length of tape on your pants, or just about any clothing or cloth, and when you remove it, the tack has been reduced, thus, less likely to damage paper when removing it from your artwork later. I haven't tried it, but I have heard professional painters speak of it, and they recommend it. Of course, use good judgement and do a trial run on scrap paper first. You might have trouble with seepage, if the clothing lint that does cling to the tape is too abundant, and blocks the tape from masking cleanly enough. For instance, I would *not* use a cloth with a bunch of large lint, like bath towels, fleece or flannel. Something tightly-woven, like denim, twill or lawn cotton would be best.

I have used Scotch magic tape and it’s ok for the first 60 minutes or so then after a while, it starts pulling away from the paper and has to be constantly pressed down so I stopped using it.
