Gender identity is an idea that is explored amongst kids at a very young age. To assume that a trans kid is unaware of their gender identity, when a cis child is aware of theirs is hipocritical. Think of intersex children and their personal journey to self awareness. It's an exploratory phase, and should be fostered. If the child, comes out of the their transfeelings later, than deal with that later. It's not psychologically damaging if their openly/willingly expressing feelings of a different gender. How will they ever know, if they don't openly live the life of another gender? The idea of never being able to detransition is not likely, because hormones are typically prescribed during late adolescence.(the age when identity is usually definite or almost) Also, talk of genetalia is irrelevant, when determining a childs gender. That pertains to their biological sex, and can indicate how their body will develop but not how ones mind will view personal identity. Gender is a social construct and is why so many gender and sex incongruencies exist. If genetalia doesn't matter, then why do people have sexual reassignment surgery? That's due to a transperson's personal discomfort of their body not alligning with what they view as male, female, etc. Also known as gender dysphoria. Imagine this. If your brain was removed from your body and was placed into a functioning genderless robot, without any form of societal pressures to conform to male or female...your mind will begin to explore the gender that it feels more at ease with, whatever that maybe for you. (man, woman, transfeminine, transmasculine, genderfluid, genderqueer, etc.) The gender continuum is everendless and is based on a persons personal feelings of self, not what people tell them is traditionally man or woman. In the same sense that sexuality is gray, as well as other human conditions/phenomenons, so is gender identity.
