As someone who grew up watching the Love Boat, yes! All the plots and lines were ever so cheesy. But there was always some type of naivety about the show that made it so endearing. To be honest however, I had forgotten about this episode, and Janet's performance made me giggle a lot. Have you noticed how her acting got better whenever she was talking about sex, or seducing or being sensual? she just seemed so comfortable and natural, which makes sense when it comes to her music, especially the ones that deal with sex, sensuality and relationships, she just exhumes sexiness and it's just something that is innately part of her.

I totally remember when this aired back in the 80’s. I was 17 or 18 and Janet Jackson is one year older than me and they advertised her being on The Love Boat all week and I couldn’t wait to see it because at the time she had just finished doing Fame. When I learned she was to portray a Love interest for Issac I was sure it had to be a typo because Ted Lang was wayyyy older omg! Although after watching this clip decades later I can see that Ted Lang was so sweet and gentle in his approach to kissing her given her inexperience but still I cringed but not nearly as much as you can see Janet cringing. She definitely was uncomfortable doing those scenes but managed to get through it. It was uncomfortable to watch. But still kudos to Ted Lang he could have been more aggressive with those kissing scenes but he kept it very light and to me that was a sense of respect for her age being so young. Janet did a decent job portraying a more mature role than just the likes of Charlene on Different Strokes. She had to be out of her mind with nerves you can really see it but honestly I think she did good considering. Come to think of it her birthday is coming up to date of this post. Her birthday is May16th three days from now and wow she will be 55! My Summer birthday I will be 54 I been a fan since watching her on The Jackson’s Variety Show when we were 6 or 7 years old wow.
