Hey everyone, I’m recording a review of this doc for my podcast, DIVA DAILIES. So if you have any thoughts you want to share, email divadailiespod@gmail.com and we’ll read it in the episode. You can even send in a voice recording and we will play it during the episode. Thanks so much A&E for giving me early access to the Janet Jackson docuseries! This is part 1 of my review. Press was only given episodes 1 & 2, aka Night 1, of the full Janet Jackson docuseries. Time stamps for topics are in the description box. #JanFam

I LOVE Janet Jackson! I was there at ceremony when she got her Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1990. I would love to meet her 1 day. All tracks on Velvet Rope are my Favorites!!! Thanks for sharing!!!❤️

I enjoyed the documentary,but,as a fan I already knew most of it.I was totally disappointed that she's forgiven Justin,after all he's done and I expected more bashing towards CBS, Grammys,and everybody involved in trying to destroy her back then.But she's so kind,sweet,humble and classy.We are here for her and it's our job to do the dragging.She has remained strong, diligent throughout all she's been through which is why I respect and love her so much.And allowing her faith to keep her balanced.

Loved it! There was so much that I hadn’t even heard of, especially with the first 2 marriages and the rumor at the end of episode 1. Can’t wait for tonight, it’s time to really hear her side of the story with the super bowl and how she was left alone to take the heat. The industry practically buried her so that she was almost never heard from again. She’s a fighter!!! Totally enjoying the documentary.

It makes perfect sense that Rene’ would have footage that has never before been seen. He has a film background, he comes from a family that was in film, I believe he’s related to Hector Elizondo , and he directed “That’s The Way Love Goes, “ “Again”. And the remix of Together Again”. He heavily influenced her look in the RN, Janet, and Velvet Rope eras.

Yes. There was a lot of footage I had never seen before. I have been a stan for over 25+ years.

Oh nice! Okay, glad to know the doc delivered in that way then. I was worried that some stans would've actually seen all of this footage before.

Thank you for a very balanced review, first time on your channel (Hi from Sweden 🙂). Long time Michael and Janet fan since the 80s as a child, so this doc is greatly anticipated. Really hope the producers and her kept in classy in regards to Michael in ep 3 and 4. Curious to see what she says about the Jackson accusers, if she touches on it. Especially Wade Robson since he was invited as a dancer on her 2011 tribute to her brother; how is that even possible if he was abused..? But I have a feeling she won’t say much about it. And in the end, she’s been overshadowed her whole life, and this is her time to speak about Janet. Anyway, appreciate your review, very informative. Now I have to check out the Whitney one. Subscribing!

I was thinking man you’re fast; because I just finished watching Part 1. (Like 3 hours ago) However, I understand you got the hook-up;how cool… Anyway I’m glad that you’re reviewing, the Janet Jackson Docuseries… You did such an awesome job, with Whitney’s Documentary .

Yes, I was very lucky! I had to cover Janet! She's one of my faves, too. And thanks so much for the compliment regarding Whitney's doc. That was a huge moment for me, haha.

I loved it, but I know almost everything she talked about as a fan. I loved the video footage. She didn't really go too deep or talk about how she felt about things. I could tell she didn't reveal everything and didn't want to talk bad about anyone,that's her right.
@innmyhumbleopinion3 жыл бұрын
Totally! Janet always seems like a pretty diplomatic person. I'm curious what she's going to talk about tomorrow though. 👀

Yes Her second husband Rene was always filming..so yes there was never seen before raw footage I never saw before like Rene proposing to her on the beach or her and Jimmy Jam getting into it the studio..which upset me a lot..Wow looking at it let me see that Janet is and was very strong to be dealing with assholes..andI think Michael had a lot in preparing her for that..He knew his sister had that IT factor...And look at the results..
@innmyhumbleopinion3 жыл бұрын
Yep. Janet has overcome A LOT of obstacles. And great to hear that the raw footage was actually never seen before.

Ok don’t know where to start. I was 7 when Control came out and been a fan since. I was so excited to see her on the All for you tour when Pink was the opening act but the concert was on Sept 11, 2001. Janet came back the next month for a makeup date and the show was epic! I’m looking forward to hearing to you and Angie (cue horns) speak more about the documentary on the podcast!

The footage from Rene was definitely the first time I have seen most of it, and I am a huge Janet fan. I loved the doc, even though the last portion of the documentary glosses over her post Damita Jo albums a bit.

When you mix your personal life with your career, you ruin one of the two sides. Five years to make a documentary of her life, and everyone is talking about Michael Jackson. That shows that he will always live in the shadow of his brother. This is something that I clarify with his brother as adults, but the media is not interested. Michael apologized, he didn't know it affected her, but the media would only use her to talk bad things about Michael. This is not done, it is a great setback for the reputation of his brother. She was left in the background in her own documentary. To bad. so sad

It is most likely the same Kevin McDonald who directed the Whitney Houston and Bob Marley's documentary. He's been the ethos of the music documentary for sometime now. Growing up in the 70s. I remember seeing Janet with her Brothers coming out on the stage for awards. Then seeing her on Good Times and then Different World. So to watch how she shined over the years was a Beautiful thing. I'm curious about her relationship with her brother Michael Jackson. I could imagine that it was excessive behaviour good and bad. Because, as quiet as Michael Jackson appeared. I could imagine he was one of them loving Brothers and annoying to a fault. Because he loved nagging his Sister. As far as Joe is concerned. This Patriarch of the family. He propelled them to success with that discipline and focus. Especially in the area where they were being raised. So I don't care what they say about Joseph. Every Black man who loves his children can respect the trajectory of Mr. Joseph Jackson. Janet knows that her Dad was integral for all their lives. Yes. She moved on from him. But,you never really move from your parents. They will be there Forever in our hearts even when their gone.

I find it weirdly awkward that Janet Jackson chose to skip the part of her life story where she married and ultimately divorced an abusive Muslim billionaire who is the father of her son.
@zazlar42282 жыл бұрын
Too much at stake as the father of her child. I think Janet will always keep that chapter closed out of respect for her son plus there is also a lot of court intervention regarding her child and the divorce.
