The storyline is her going out with her friends, finds love and comes back home. It was intended to be futuristic. The crazy thing is the music and lyrics took you through that story line but the music video (so brilliantly directed) never did. And if you listen closely it was genius to use Nutty in the song... 🎶 Nutty, nutty, nutty my love for you. Love me some Janet. 🌻💜 She was on top of the world at this time. The prelude to All For You. No apologies needed! As I've had to remind myself over the past few days, sometimes life just happens and you have to roll with the punches. Besides, to paraphrase Janet, your reactions are "worth the wait" :). This is one of my all-time favorite Janet/Jam/Lewis lyrics/productions. As you noted, the amount of layers is staggering, and you can blink and miss if them if you don't pay close attention. "Doesn't Really Matter's" lyrics were actually based on a poem Janet wrote, discarded, then recovered later. The soundtrack version for The Nutty Professor II was released in 2000; the album version from 2001's All For You is slightly different and has added elements

This was my favorite song when I was in Kindergarten (born in 1994). I was NEVER able to find this song because I was so little I didn’t know any of the lyrics or who sang it. And I'm back with another fun fact, along with a BTS video of the filming I found (Janet's really good at making BTS vids for her music videos): The platform that they are dancing on in the video was actually, physically tilting every which way and that.
