Just gotta add that Russia has been working overtime to inspire political apathy, which is this comment right here: The leaders of your country matter. It’s the difference between a h0l0caust and just another 4 years of a status quo (not that extreme in the US’s case, but just a reminder of how the leaders guide the country). Don’t forget, people got the right to vote, social security and disability existing, gay people getting married, and women having the right to own a bank account all depended on the government’s leadership. Remember what happened in Afghanistan? When the political regime changed, women were barred from school and could no longer continue education beyond 6th grade. Who you vote for matters a lot. Taxes went up for the middle class when trump was in office, business regulations decreased, making work places less safe, further contributing the disappearance of the middle class. We may choose not to care, but who guides your country matters a ton.

@audiolove1976Ай бұрын
@@staceem4592 I'm not saying that Janet wasn't responsible for the words that came out of her mouth, because she is, and I said as much in the OP. What I'm saying is, the article looks to be framed as a regular interview, but it has undertones of a hit piece. The headline states "I shouldn't believe people around me," followed by Janet repeating lies she "heard" by an unnamed source. Add that to the sarcastic tone weaved throughout the interview plus the journalist asking a direct question about the political climate in America (which I'm now hearing she wasn't supposed to ask about, but asked anyway), and it reads like a hit piece, disguised as a nuanced, introspective interview. Janet has been in the game too long, and is FULLY responsible for knowing basic facts before going into an interview, but the interview as a whole looks sketch to me. It’s just because she’s a celebrity it’s amplified, dramatic and people need something to talk about. It’ll blow over let lady mourn her brother without having to worry about pleasing the masses with what “ she should’ve known”. Please.

Janet Jackson has the money and access to be informed and she's not. No one's trying to cancel her, they're just saying that her statement was ignorant. If she didn't want to comment on politics, she just shouldn't have answered the question. Using her status to spread misinformation is harmful.

@@tellethomas410 the same people who say that we shouldn't be dependent on what celebrities say about politics, are the same people upset about her opinion. That's what is sending me, you would have thought she said something utterly disparaging and derogatory about Kamala.

@@kellygreengables3936And if she decided not to answer the question, people would have still been outraged and calling it irresponsible given the political climate.

There needs to be a real civil doscourse in Nationality, ethnicity, and race in this country. Because differentiating these terms and understanding them are still kicking people in the axx. Should Janet do her own research, of course, but she didn't say anything wrong.

Kamala was a lead prosecutor on Michael Jackson's case.

What is Janet’s child considered to be? I’m really curious.

Well, his father is from Qatar, so I guess her son would be considered Half Black, half Qatari. I believe Qatar is within Persian Gulf, Middle Eastern region.

I don't know why so many feel the need to tell Kamala what her blackness is. That is up to her to define.

The problem is Kamala isn't black neither half black . Her father already made it clear their family is of Indian and Irish ancestry. She doesn't have a drop of black in her. He even accused her of cosplaying as a mixed race black woman to get black votes. That's the problem. She isn't black at all but she's allowing people to think that she is. She in every other cosplaying mixed race black woman needs to be called out.

In all fairness, Janet has stated that she prefers not to talk at all and likes to listen. Maybe we should really listen to her next time and not ask her anything.
