x-thasis They're totally different, Madonna relies on theatrics, creates huge shows that overwhelm the senses whereas Janet can have all that but can also strip it back to bare bones, despite her not even having a great singing voice. There's something innate about Janet's showmanship and musicality that sets her apart from the likes of Madonna, who doesn't have the same innate quality. Janet obviously inherited that same DNA that made The Jacksons special but she also created her own style, especially by this time (2002). No one can say anyone else is 'the best' because that's subjective, but I don't think too many people can argue against the fact that Janet was/is something truly special and magnetic on the stage.
