Am I the only one that when he sings (I may get it wrong) "We'll be dancing and you'll look at me and say 'I like this song''" I get all happy inside. It's such a great intimate moment.

I remember one night a long time ago I had this playing while driving around my city with the girl I liked and she looked at me and said “I like this song” seconds before the line comes in. Felt incredible for a second and then totally ruined the moment by geeking out about it

I find it frustratingly amazing when I listen to their albums and try and figure out how they get the sounds they're making with those samplers and how they perform them like that. That's the beauty of AnCo I guess.

this is perhaps the prettiest song they have ever made, apart from #1. It makes me wanna cry. Such a visual song. Every time i hear it, i seriously "leave my body"..just as he sings. Took me a long time to get into this band, but now i'm convinced. Best band on earth!

I prefer this "explosion" to the one on the album. Mainly because it still maintains the beautiful piano rhythm, as well as incorporating those ghostly vocal noises and... well, it's just more sublime for me. I really love the one on the album too - like, it's one of my favourite parts on the album - but live... it just gets to me more.

OHHHH Righteous.. geo crossfades out with Joe Meek's 'Magnetic Field' and the new lyrics are soo much more visual.. when avey says "If only I could leave my body for one night" that really sends me inside the dialogue.. good job davey!

Never actually though I would comment anything on youtube, stupid thing don't really know why. But after listening this music, and reading this guy saying 'worst opener ever' I just had to 'do' something, here it goes: 5:21 minutes of the best music I ever listened. All these new songs from AC are a great opener for something special, for me, smiles. Too many!

Guys. Everyone. This was nearly a year before Merriweather was released. This is the song in a different form than you're used to. It's not like they forgot or aren't capable of making that part as explosive on the album. Animal Collective always begins performing songs in nascent forms and develops them as they tour. If you want an example of how drastically a song can change before it's recorded, go listen to Taste live.

I love this version of In the Flowers. It doesn't pack the punch at 1:51 but I listen to this version more than MPP now. I just love the way the piano pushes through the organ(?) and then those two channels follow each other around melodically. If you want a completely different audio explosion in this song, google acollective2008-05-28.4061.flac16 and listen to track one. Gah! Just listened to the MPP version again. Maybe it has the edge after all. Both epic IMO.

@nilpointdotcom That's the thing. And I'm not just aiming this at you, but people always comment on youtube videos saying "AC is good, but they're terrible live." The majority of those people have probably never seen them live as you said. There is an enormous difference between seeing a band live and listening to a youtube video. A lot of times it can do with how the sound was mixed for the video as well as a bunch of other factors. And keep in mind that this performance was before MPP came out.

i never really liked or understood animal collective till i was experianceing this on lsd. This song was incredible, i know this band is lying out thier ass when they say they dont do drugs...there is no way they are not on acid. once you give them a good few listens they will most definatly become favorites. the loops and sounds playing in the background are the same sounds your mind makes as you are tripping in new worlds. check out fireworks or pappiodaniel on myspace

I agree. The way I found out about them not using drugs, was by researching on whether they use drugs or not, because like you said, they do seem to have a drug kind of style. Take Peacebone's video for example. That definately isn't something you see everyday. Lol. And in a lot of their songs, their lyrics don't make any sense. I was surprised when I heard them say they don't use drugs haha.
