This is genuinely a nice city set. I feel like a kid again looking at all the possibilities this offers and takes me back to when I was young, and the last Space Police III came out and I used a police station to make a base for them. This tugs at my nostalgia a lot.

I can speak from personal experience that Lego Space sets inspire future engineers. I'm a judge for the FIRST Lego League, and also interview high school students applying for scholarships. The sheer number of young people who go on towards technical careers because of these toys is enormous. Some of our alumni even worked on the Mars Rovers after graduating! This almost seems like a must have for Lego space fans. Seeing how complete it is from the back, all the shiny new pieces, all the classic space logos and related pieces, I really don't think it's THAT overpriced. $110 would have been fine to me. Maybe it's a little smaller than I realize though.
@butterybricks2 жыл бұрын
Normally I complain about Lego City being overpriced, but this has a lot of unique pieces. maybe I'm biased towards space, but these seems like every inch has more playability and imagination than other City sets of similar price. And I think there is enough interesting vehicles and building to justify the cost.

Those 4 plates could work together to look like a huge shallow crater had been bulldozed a bit to make a landing place.

Strangely, this gives me vibes from that space station from Halo 4... which I kinda really like TBH. I like the architectural vibe here! I have not been interested in a lot of LEGO sets for quite a while but this one I find sticks out to me at a closer look. I especially like that garage section. This is a really fun play set. In particular, the variable-angle hatch is quite neat despite showing gaps, and the amount of play space offered by the garage is generous. The one thing that bugs me the most though - more so than some of the weird vehicles - is the garage has no door but its connected to open corridors to the interior of the modules, which I thought would've been pointed out 😂

The two big retailers in Australia, Kmart and Big W (probably equivalent to your Walmart) have priced this set immediately at $140 each, $20 less that the RRP that Lego themselves sell it at. And then they both will have their own sales from time to time to make these things cheaper.

I was watching this guy named "R. R. Slugger" who does Rock Raiders reviews. Something I thought was neat was that he has a section in his reviews where he shows a version of the set with modifications he's made to them. I always wondered what kind of changes or modifications Jang would make to these sets while watching these reviews and after the Crocodile modification video, it seems like he has some pretty useful advice for it. If Jang made a video series or a section of the reviews where did that, I think people could probably get some useful tips from it and I think it would be a great way to encourage people to experiment around with their sets. That, and I just want to see what they'd look like.

I actually think you get alot for this set. Any time you have new molded pieces as well at the translucent color the price will go up. also this set has a bunch of very specialized pieces and if you know anything about injection plastic molds, the more intricate the mold, the more you have to design your molding machine around making sure that piece comes out correctly. I am impressed with all the small builds that come come with this. I dont ever remember a time until the last few years whenever you would get a space base set that was enclosed on every side. also these are EXTREMELY good pieces to have for any MOC build, especially anything cyberpunk related

I actually wasn't a fan of this because I thought the overall size and shape was a little underwhelming (also though it looks like what it's inspired by I don't like the "ears" on the rocket). However now I have seen the back and how it all fits together i have a solution I think would make me happy. I would get two. Connect them together, and then swap one set of beds in the dome with the garden so one dome has all the garden and one dome has all the beds.

Given the parts count, new parts, new prints, and the amount of things to play with $120USD is about right in todays market. Since you don't know. Action figures are seeing a $3-4 mark up this year alone and that's on the low end for just Mattel WWE figures so you should be happy that Lego hasn't gone up that much. By the way, I don't it was cheap getting those huge translucent panels designed and get the moulds cast. It's also not like they're going to be used a lot.

Speaking on modifications, it looks like the end parts could be modified into having another hallway around the back, making something of a Y junction for more modulars to be added. I think this is actually a very interesting setup, and perhaps more space-themed builds could incorporate more modules to attach to the base to give it more overall appeal. as is, the selection seems quite nice, though as you said a bit too pricy for most impulse buys at least.
