The space theme for Lego is my favourite but I am disappointed in the execution in way of the system not working. The space theme has so much potential, and it only seems right for it to exist as one of the pillars of Lego, but they need to do more with it. The last space station had some good direction, but very restricted, same as this set. The habitable area is a good addition as you can see in it, with play features. We need more modules with windows and above all else, AIRLOCKS! Airlocks for space Lego is like toilets for modular buildings.

if it wasn't so pricey, you could put 4 or 5 of the central modules into the ship and custom the interiors. that would be a very interesting ship. perhaps they could sell bolt on modules...

With the small pod-craft attached to the "nose," it looked very retro scifi-y to me, and I didn't think immediately that this was an official Space themed set from 2022. Strongly reminds me of the ship from Space 1999 show at the first glance (there maybe other fictional crafts that are/have elements similar to this one, though!).

I might be going crazy, but this set gives me Classic Space vibes (not just the logos,) especially the way the cockpit pieces are used to close it up. But wow, those scratches are awful, as is the color mismatch. I understand why you wouldn't bother, Jang, but if anyone else has this issue on their personal set, they ought to contact LEGO about it. Why the heck did they change the material for the clear pieces? And why can't they match colors? Wow, yeah, the lander not being able to dock with this is a big miss. Because then where is the lander coming from? Haha. I know most kids aren't going to get a $80 set on top of a $120 set, but still. Other than those issues, it is pretty cool, I suppose. I think that battery/component is meant for restoring the solar panels.

I have not been happy with the quality of translucent panels for the past few years and this was an excellent display of that. I got so confused when you turned the model around to display the panels at 6:30. Surely the two top panels are not considered the same colour? The bottom two are tinted slightly differently, but you see that in most opaque colours too (still not OK!). But for the top left one you must have received a panel in the wrong colour. That is the only explanation I can find that would justify the premium price we pay for these toys. As for the scuffs you see on those pieces they have been an issue for years now and I *don't* like it one bit. I am currently sitting on duplicate windshields for my UCS Slave I *and* Razor Crest for example. I had replacements sent to me because those windshields are transported separately outside of any bag, and it sucks when the prints get ruined and there are deep gouges - straight out of the box.

Yeah this is about as bad of a color difference has ever been for LEGO for two parts that are supposed to be identical. I've seen someone literally think they got two different blue colors by accident, but there's no such luck; only one blue exists! :(

They need to make a space station that has a larger number of pods that have lots of space inside to actually play inside them and less tubular parts that you can't do anything with. Maybe very short access tubes to show the pods are connected but spend the money allotted for the set on the actual pods.
@maximillianrebo2 жыл бұрын
The action feature at the rear of the ship could be inspired by 2001, with crew needing to go outside to replace the solar panel control unit. Hopefully the pod bay doors open on the way back in! However there's no replacement control unit included so maybe not. Also it would be cool if the habitat ring could rotate, but that would make the build a lot more complex.

1:35 removable little modules/packages that need to be 'maintained/managed' is one of my favourite kind of play feature, but I don't understand the solar panels dropping down at all, seems like a confusing waste of part count, and in general this set just lacks real play features.

I just don't like those cockpit pods. The lunar rover has such a clean transition between cockpit and airlock connection. That these are a step back to simpler lego. Seeing the lunar rover as a module for this should work alright maybe modify that with an engine. I like the rails to make minifigs look like their floating. And there is a bit of wow factor to the angled windows even if they restrict the space, and are so easily scratched.

Back in my days not only piceces were more resiliant but also had better color consistency. I kept all transparent pieces in one bag and nothing got major scratches just from storage for years of play. Only damaged pieces I got are those with bite marks, few broken clips and pelvises or cracked torsos and arms. But those fugures witnesed a lot. Old gray and white used to get yelowish with time, but in rather consistant way. Difference was much smaller than between it and blueish gray when they switched in early 2000s. Color variation was sign of Cobi and other bootleg brands. :/

Maybe re-release it with some extra habitable space and that compatible docking port and the price would be a bit more reasonable. I do like the look of this set, I do wish though the interior space was bigger. They ought to consider a sort of updated version of the set.

@LegoSonicBoy2 жыл бұрын
I'm not even sure if the greenish trans-LB panel is partially affected by the yellowing often associated with white bricks alongside differences in the chemical composition of the plastic itself. Many of my trans-clear panels with the current plastic formula have been yellowing in the box and I've frequently had to make substitutions or ask LEGO for replacements.

That tail section isn't just non-dynamic. It's ugly. There was a lot more room for play features. With the same space they could have made a T-section that would dock with other craft. They certainly had the room to put a few more bricks in at that price.

Just finished mine last night, totally agree on your points. IMO the empty white part should have been a cargo bay that the yellow arm can put cargo into, and ALSO have a docking ring for the moon base set. Totally baffling that they left that out, considering that connecting sets is encouraged for the moon base and rover!!! A bit frustrating that they haven’t put more effort into that + joining it together with the space sets from a few years ago (I know it’s Lego so you can do it yourself but….). The Harry Potter sets are still the standard for connectivity I guess.

My leading theory with Lego's recent quality control issues is that they're spreading themselves too thin with all the new themes and subthemes they're churning out like pancakes, on top of the logistics issues and other fallout from the pandemic. There's all these new subthemes cropping up and it seems like they just can't keep up with demand so they're cutting corners. I've purchased over a dozen sets just since January and every single one had issues. Printing issues with the instructions, bags being crimped together or already opened, missing stickers, scuffed up and damaged elements, the list goes on. Fortunately no missing parts yet. But in all the years I've bought Lego, up until 2020, it was extremely rare to find any issues with new sets.
@joshuaa.55232 жыл бұрын
i think they did this before where they had too many themes, quality suffered. They ended up with major sales losses. If they start losing sales they will straighten up like before. It might take Lego longer to fix the problems this time because they are at the top of the market.
