Excited to see the next video! I really appreciate you going into some detail on the subject and engraving in general. You'll rack up some views over time because there's really not much good info out there really besides shaun hughes vids and a few here and there by others but doing a small series of videos on different aspects is great. So thanks again and keep em coming!

One thing I'm really having a tough time with is my shading. Aside from scroll design. I don't usually have a hard time shading other types of art but shading scrolls has been a struggle. If you ever get the time I'd love a good video on shading techniques and styles 😁😉. Thanks again for sharing your tips and knowledge of the trade. Much appreciated.

work on making one single line instead of chicken scratching your lines in. i can see you have no issue imagining where you want your lines to be. now focus on trusting that you know how to make the line if one fell swoop. it will take your work to the next level
@MasterEngraverTV5 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing you are not an engraver or scroll designer?
@puddinpie98625 жыл бұрын
Master Engraver TV I’m an artist learning to take my skills in art to engraving for custom knives. My tip comes from an artists perspective though, not an engraver. And I’d like you to keep in mind that I only wrote my comment the way I did because I felt you could see how strong your art work is on it’s own, with an artists mind, not an engravers. but when you lay the lines with a pencil, your art as a whole will improve with the more confident you are with single strokes instead of that scratching/sawing action we instinctively want to make before we learn the importance as an artist to have confident, single strokes for lines. I only want to point such things out so I can see you get better, because I like learning from your videos wherever possible.

I‘m a little late to the party, but maybe it will give someone in the future a better understanding. I am also coming from a drawing standpoint, I guess that’s what that person refers to as „artist“. What you see in the video has nothing to do with chicken scratching, lines that are chicken scratching are unconfident, jagged lines that follow the form somewhat but arn‘t drawn following the direction of the shape and often are fragmented. What you see is sketching, the lines are confident, follow the correct direction, are smooth and non fragmented, they are so clean that they are nearly closer to linework than sketching.
