I can't wrap my head around this. It's the first match of the tournment, group stage, 10 minutes on the clock, 5-1 or 5-2 both are worth 3 points and the goalie does this. Why?!? You just lost your best GK and wont have it available to play the only realistically winnable fixture left on the group stage (because the 3rd game was Brazil). Why would you do this? Luckily for Canada, Costa Rica bungled it against Equador and Canada went through because of goal difference. In the end, it didn't harm the team on the long run.

It was a poor goalkeeping but even worst was the free kick goal. the shot had no power it was an easy catch for the goalkeeper but the keeper had no experience defending her net. Its the fact that she tried that really mattered. The goal didn't affect the score since they were up 5 - 1 it was 5-2.
