I was 17 when Janis died,. Here I am at 67, still enjoying her music and NO ONE, I mean NO ONE could never ever beat her voice, soul and feelings. Janis will live FOREVER..🌹

I turned nine & a half the day on which Jimi Hendrix died, 16 days before Janis did. I loved both of them even then. As a sensitive child, the deaths of two of my favorite people so close chronologically slammed me into prolonged, deep depression, exacerbated by my beloved brother -in-law's murder on March 22, 1971, six days after his 22nd birthday & four days after my 10th. My sister was pregnant with their son at the time.

I was in the Army when Janis died. I walked into the mess hall in the morning and one of the guys showed me the headline. I stood there for a moment the got out of there so no one could see me and I broke down and couldn't stop crying. After all these years I come on here every so often and sit and watch her videos and songs like this one and others bring the tears back again. I still miss her and have never stopped loving her. I hope you're resting in piece Little Girl Blue and someday I hope to hear you sing again.

RIP Janis, hope you found the peace in death that you couldn't find in life :-)

My grandmother died today at 66 years old. She saw Janis in concert when she was younger and has always loved her. Years ago she told me she wanted this song to play this song at her funeral. Some weeks after Janis's passing, her last album, Pearl, was released. Of course, all the radio stations rushed to play it. The first time I heard Janis's version of Me and Bobby McGee on the radio, as it ended, the DJ practically screamed into the mike, "Janis Joplin will never die!" That is pretty much the way we all felt then, and still do now.

@OR0R010 жыл бұрын
she brings tears to my soul. not because she was sad - NO! because she was real refreshing, and raw. she took so much shit in life, but she had the balls to continue to be herself. And in that strength, we all got a chance to witness her greatness. she is my favorite American songstress of all time. Janis bared her soul on every song that came from her lips. i hope she's in heaven with the peace that she could not find on earth.
@4773549thesecondpart10 жыл бұрын
I love Janis Joplin and her music very much but she hadn't balls to continue being herself. That's why she consumed heroine to escape and finished as finished. It's really a pity but it's the reality.
@OR0R010 жыл бұрын
4773549thesecondpart that's so incorrect and wrong to say of the dead. she was herself in life and in death. i personally think she was killed. she had a new band, new sound, was clean from drugs, and was happier than she'd ever been in life. so why would all of a sudden she just throw all away what she worked so hard for? if anything, she loved performing and giving her all more than anything drug, any drink, any man. understand the woman before you judge her.
@garyturner79749 жыл бұрын
OR0R0 That's so incorrect, Janis relapsed and overdosed and died. Read her biography. She died very alone and depressed because of her fame. Only the Great die young. RIP JANIS!
@OR0R09 жыл бұрын
Gary Turner i refuse to read those lies they tell. they said the same about hendrix too, who like janis, was also murdered. but you go ahead a believe what 'they' tell you. because never in a million years would any stars death be covered up by bullshit. whatever.
@OR0R09 жыл бұрын
how did she die alone when she was about to be married ? how was she depressed with a new band and music coming out? she had a perfect track record at work. never would she get high or drink when she knew she had to be in the studio. she was on time and about business. so why would she kill herself when she knew the next day she had to record her vocals? music was the biggest thing in her life and no drug, man, or booze could compare to that. her 'killing herself' always was fishy to me and it still is.

I was eight years old when Janis died, at that time I didn't understand the deeper message. Today I realize, with sadness, that the cry for peace and social justice from that time has still not been heard today in the 21st century and also the artists fighting for the same issues are being punished by political ignorance, albeit they look only to human justice and peace.

A high school buddy of mine, Eric, lived next door to, and this is true, Big Brother and The Holding Company. I do recall hearing "an incredible racket" one day while at his house. She dug deep and hit every heart and soul that heard her sing. Even the ones that wouldn't give her the time of day, they were grabbed by the heart string. Her Heart was lonely, she had sadness, pain and tragedy in her past thats what came out in her music. No matter how many were around her, if she was getting married, had the life as good as people on the other side of the looking glass perceived it to be, nothing could change it. Drugs was her out, it was a numbing temporary fix that took a hold of her when she wasn't looking. and that's what we heard when she sang. That's that sad reality of depression, it takes all away. Even the beautiful ones. Sad, how many generations love the same quality of music. Because it's real, vulnerable heart grabbing truth.

Now remember back then search engines weren’t a thing yet. But I did my research the old fashioned way and as soon as I heard her I fell in love with her music, and her story! Found out later she passed away on my birthday. She was an amazing talented women! She hold a special spot in my heart like millions!

On a cold autumn morning in 1970, my grand mother called me cause she wanted to see me. There it was. A newspaper on the kichen table. The highlight was: Janis Joplin dead. I was 13 years old. My grandma knew my love for Janis. She could not bear the sight of me with tears in my eyes. But she had to break the news. No one in my estimate will ever be capable of voicing blues and soul the way she did. All my love.

Whew, sing it girlfriend, sing it! There's something about Ms. Janis that just touches my heart and soul. She had the most uniquely beautiful voice, and she was REAL! She sure had some challenges here on this earth, but I hope she's going to be singing at those golden gates when that time comes! She was simply amazing and I still can't get enough of her, but I've been listening to her belt that music out since I was a wee one, and will keep on listening for as long as I'm here ❤

The soul and musical inspiration Janis left to us is just amazing, it is so sad and heart breaking to us who loved her talent and great singing voice so much that watching the video's from so many years back just move's us to a point where knowing she's gone becomes a personnel tragedy for all of us who so idolized her not just as a singer/talent but as a person who we loved and idolized for just being Janis a person we could just relate to . And thanks to KZbin we can go back in time and watch and listen to this Idol and Legend that left this world way too soon. Looking up and seeing where close to six million people have tuned onto this video show the love and admiration so many people and fans she had to her generation.

Because of her I absolutely love blues music and of course the influences from my father... There's nothing like the Blues it just reaches down into your soul it just means more to me then just sounds...
