Janis really added depth to this song..if she hadn't sung with them, i don't think we would be watching this now.

I agree. Those guys and her were a magic combo. Nothing like them before or since.

We would have never heard of this band without her. Obviously she is the star, And best one, in this band. She was so awesome! I feel sad I never got to see her, or Jimi.

Wow! You get to see the whole band, not just Janis (as great as she was). Fantastic!

I heard this for the first time in my apartment near campus in 1969. I almost had a heart attack. It through me into another world. She and the band were amazing. Raw. Cutting right to the heart.

This is so awesome. Only Jimi was ahead of this. Well just think if Jimi and Janis had been in a band together, wow. That might have been the greatest. Janis was so great. I never got to see her in concert. I did see Heart in concert 3 times. Ann has been rocking for 50 years now. Janis was only famous for 4 years, she played and sang like about 10 years.

I really, really wished i could have seen Janis Joplin live, when i was of age (Iwas barely 4 yrs old when she died). At age ~26, I was on vacation with friends in San Francisco, and one evening we went to a bar in North Beach (?) area, there was this really good, tight band playing. I thought they were fantastic. Later found out they were Big Brother and the Holding Company. Still going strong at that time, in 1993.

My Mom and her friend were going to hitchhike up to the Monterey Pop Festival In 1967 to see the bands there including Big Brother and the Holding Company and decided not to go, 27 years later her daughter (me) at 25 years old went with friends to Mountain View near San Francisco and got to see the Grateful Dead before Jerry Garcia died, it was like going through a time machine going back to the 1960’s

Never seen this version before. Combination Of The Two refers to the Fillmore auditorium and the Avalon ballroom. Bill Graham moved to the Fillmore West in July '68. Previously the Fillmore West was called the Carosel.
