This is a talent competition. He shouldn't win because he represents something people identify with--a common man pursuing his dream. That's admirable but that's not what's at stake here. All the contestants personalities are a part of their 'act', but in the end it's about talent and skill. Richard is a good singer but nowhere nearly as good as others in this season. His story isn't the talent we're supposed to be voting for.

It’s not just the fact that he’s a Janitor for 23 years up to this point. Not just the fact that he’s a typical guy living a completely normal life, it’s the fact that HE CAN SING THE WAY THAT HE DOES, despite being 55 Years old. To me, that’s the Most IMPRESSIVE part. It shows the Pure Talent in his Voice. This man deserves all the Praise that he gets, and is an inspiration to a lot of people out there.

Richard was a janitor in my town! My husband and I helped with our churches youth group, and the kids would talk about "the singing janitor" who had a fabulous voice. He's sing as he'd clean down the halls. So neat to be able to see him on this stage now!!

This man is what A G T should be all about ...a humble ..man with a amazing talent...a hero..for sure ..ANYBODY can program a computer to fly a bunch of drones...my 16 year old grandson does that...with practice anyone can do acrobatics..blindfolded or not ...but it takes a good given talent to sing like Richard does...and to be as humble as he is without the ego that most singers have is what being a winner is all about ...he.s a champion..his life will never be the same ...and if by some chance (which won.t happen) he doesn.t win..he.ll still be a superstar he.ll get a record contract and people will know who he is and will pay to see him preform ...as for the drones and the acrobatic bunch ...if one of them win ...within 6 months no one will remember their names...what they have to offer America right now will have no effect on bring people together God Bless You Richard❤❤❤❤❤❤

I share Richard’s love for Journey. They’re my favorite band of all time. I even saw them in concert twice. In 2022 for the Freedom tour, and this year for the summer stadium tour. I’m more excited the fact they’re performing with him next week.

​@@johnpenn8444 Ashes and Arrows are an established band that have been around for years just using AGT as promotion. There's a reason they didn't get to the final, practicing professionals never win. Same as Puff the dragon costumed magician or Tapeface, whenever they have a huge dancing troupe or choir, or when they had Loren Allred singing the Greatest Showman song twice, (on the British AND American versions!) when she was the original singer of the song in the film. They're not actually in the running to get to the finals, they're there to put a few professional acts into the mix and promote the artists. The whole point of the show is to find talent from ordinary people who don't do the things as their regular dayjob. There's a difference between polish and passion. Richard may not be as fully trained or sound quite as good, but his heart goes into it and you can hear it... there's a rawness that the overly trained performers that have done it a thousand times don't have anymore, and that's what the audience is responding to, along with his personality.
