@@AdventureMuse The funny thing is that she is a semi pro at many of these things, but has less time and tries to not have work and play be the same thing, whereas I am the beginner and am hungry to learn and improve but still know so little. Been watching lots of videos on editing cuts/filming shots lately. Hoping to start using more of them!

The hiking pole clip is a great idea! Cell phones and big cameras aren't the most convenient in middle of a hike. Been travelling and hiking for years and I've always struggled with the balancing act of taking photos / footage to be able to remember my trips and being able to enjoy the moment. @@AdventureMuse I picked up a Sony ZV-1 a few weeks ago for all the reasons you mentioned. It's tiny, always with me, and does better footage-wise than my iPhone and my GoPro in most situations. My big camera is a hassle for documenting vlog style and it freaks people out most of the time. :)

I’ve been enjoying your videos. Thanks for posting and sharing. My kids just bought me a GoPro 9 for my 2+ week hike on the John Muir Trail coming up the end of August. Any tips to extend battery life? I will have a couple Anker battery packs for my inreach, iPhone and GoPro, but I know battery life will be tight. I’ll see about getting a couple back up batteries.
@AdventureMuse Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much. The new GoPro batteries, the white ones, do last so much longer. I hike with a solar pack that I charge everything with once I get to camp and that keeps all my tech going for days on the trail. You might want to think about getting a couple more batteries to take with you? they are so small, the weight isn't really noticable.
@JRoss707 Жыл бұрын
@@AdventureMuse awesome, yes, I’m checking out the new Enduro max life white batteries, they look promising. I’ve had luck with a solar charger on past hikes (Lixada, super lightweight), so I’m thinking just one Anker, the solar and the two extra batteries might be good. I have charging at Muir Trail Ranch then from there to Whitney is about ten days, or possibly Cottonwood Pass will be 12 days. I see so many people tweaking their settings, for example shutting off quick capture, etc., which seems to defeat the purpose of bringing it in the first place. Thanks again for the tips.

I've tried it before and didn't like the angle and it is a bit shaky. I've attached it on my capture clip which is often on my backpack strap. If you have the attachments, go for it, try it out on a hike. I just found that having it on the pole was the sweet spot.

Great music tip! That is my biggest struggle, picking and finding music (ok, making myself sit down and finish up edits is my biGgest struggle). •If you can add the weight to a backpack, some RainX in a travel-size spray bottle is a favorite luxury for the GoPro lens. Helps water bead off out of the shot in rain or after submerging.

I’ve never had an overheating problem, but I generally take short clips. I always use the quick start so I press the record button, turns on and records. When I’m done I press again and it’s off. Saves me from over heating, draining my battery and accidentally changing my setting if the camera isn’t locked
