Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Fires Jann Wenner! but Does That Solve Anything? #rockandrollhalloffame
Hey everyone!
As many of you know Jann Wenner , former editor of Rolling Stone Magazine & former Chairman of the Board for the Rock & Roll Gall of Fame, was fired from the nominating committee of The Rock & Roll of Fame!
Why? Well as usual, when Jann Wenner opens his mouth, nothing intelligent emerges! But this time ge REALLY has hung himself out to dray!
Tonight I tie all the pieces together to make some sort of sense of this whole debacle!
And as usual if you enjoy tonight;s video, please consider giving it a Thumbs-Up as that helps the KZbin algorithm better identify the channel to a larger audience!
If you haven’t subscribed to the channel as of yet, just hit that subscribe to ‘The Tribe’ button, and then tap that Top-Bell Icon, and you’ll be notified of all my future videos!
Enjoy!

Wenner is the music industry equivalent of a “jock sniffer”. Someone who wasn’t an athlete, but would do anything just to hang out with them. His “friendship” with Bono, Jagger, etc., is highly suspect. They used him for whatever gain they could get when he was editor. Now he really has no juice so they have kicked him to the curb.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame needs to change its name to Music Hall of Fame. Ever since they start selecting trap-rhythm based Hip Hop, and Pop artists into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. BTW, there is so much to Rock, including from Mexico and Argentina. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame became a popularity contest for the establishment interests, which is opposite what rock and roll is. Bono be damned.

These people simply want to gate-keep the music industry. Even though blacks revolutionized many genres of music, we are always relegated as footnotes. It's not about being articulate. It's about "I'm white and I say so" as usual. I've done videos about Michael and Prince on my own channel. Just these two alone have blown away most of the artists on that bogus Rolling Stone list.

I hate how false all the world is these days. The main issue is that everybody is pretending to care about things they do not care about. Put up false images of themselves to be included and then get tossed aside like dirt when that false image is broken. What if everyone just truly was themselves instead? And we could focus on the important issues of life and leave those who do not care doing whatever they want to do?

Most critics aren't fans of late 70s arena rockers. Some of the snarkier news personalities on cable TV aren't either. MSNBC's Stephanie Ruhle made fun of a Republican operative who took a Russian government spokeswoman to a Styx concert, as if liking Styx were an even worse crime than fraternizing with spokespeople for Putin. And when Paul Ryan bragged about having an iPod filled with classic hard rock artists, Sirius XM's Karen Hunter, who has appeared regularly on MSNBC, responded on Facebook with a put-down - "AC/DC (too easy to go there) to [Led] Zeppelin? Figures . . ."

I think people need to know that there are 2 sides of the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame There’s the organization that votes on who should be inducted and have their names be all over the walls of the museum and of course to be honored in a induction ceremony every year And then there’s the 2nd side of the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame which is really just a museum to attract tourists that is no different than the Baseball Football Hall of Fame in Cooperstown or the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton There’s one part that shows a little plaque of all the inductees from what I recall and the rest of it is showcasing important things from the history of Rock n Roll and the genres that inspired Rock n Roll

The other Rolling Stone bigwig Dave Marsh is another peckerhead that has to go. He has done a lot of damage to the Rock And Roll HOF's credibility. Whose brilliant idea was it to let shock jock Howard Stern induct Bon Jovi into the Rock Hall, when someone more relevant could have inducted them? I understand John Travolta inducted the Bee Gees, but he starred in one of the biggest films of the 70s whose soundtrack predominately featured the Brothers Gibb.

I love the musicians I love but I don't rely on them for philosophy or ideology political or otherwise in most cases I disagree. Jann Wenner canceled himself. He, above all people, knows he has to watch what he says in these cancel-culture times. This is a prime example of a group of elites eating one of their own. It doesn't bother me a whit that he's in cancel-purgatory. The real telling problem still remains. A bunch of bad actors has highjacked the RRHOF and the nominating committee. When an act like Missy Elliott (No disrespect here) is inducted and a group like ELP with three of perhaps the biggest virtuosos in Rock history are not even considered? When a heavy metal pioneer such as Iron Maiden which has fans all over the globe that sells out stadiums quicker than our President falls down a set of stairs? When an act like Boston who's played on the radio more than anyone else is still not considered? It may be time to cut the emotional ties with the RRHOF. These bad actors are feeding off of our anger that these rock acts of which I named but a few are being ignored for more politically acceptable ones. Jann Wenner made this mess, he needs to own it. We have a saying in the south, "Don't sh*t where you eat." - Michael, sorry for stating this so forcefully but this topic hits a raw nerve with me. Also, proud to be a member of the tribe. Rock on. Lots of people say it should just be called the “Music Hall of Fame” so that there’s no need to be picky over what’s “rock” and what’s not. BUT even if it were just the Music Hall of Fame they STILL induct people that aren’t even that influential in their genre! Missy Elliot (nothing against her personally) is a good example. She’s certainly not rock, but even in her actual genre (rap/pop) she was never THAT influential to be inducted into a Hall of Fame. En Vogue and TLC were far more influential black female singers in the 90’s than Missy Elliot ever was. So regardless of what they call this place it will still continue to enshrine folks who make us scratch our heads. 🤷‍♂️

Hi Michael. Why should Bono, Bruce or Mick come to his defense? What Jann said cannot be defended. It's best to ignore the braying of a jackass. I hope he goes away and we don't hear from him again. PS. Like you I got some enjoyment from him being taken to task for his inane statements.

I actually meant that as a wry comment 2277! They shouldn’t come to his rescue, but they have all hung out jetting to here and there, and you don’t think they haven’t heard crap like this from his mouth before? The Hollywood crowd all scramble on one another, when the heat starts to get close! ❤❤❤

@@MichaelNoland-TheBottomLineThose artists are also all ass kissers for validation. They probably tolerated him because he put them on a pedestal. Jagger loves being a celebrity, Bruce wants to be propped up like Dylan and Bobo wants to be framed like he's Mother Teresa. 😂 He does that for them.

Iits a very nadly worded affair. I took it as these folks werent articulate or such about the subject of rock n roll. And stevie wonder although a master of his instruments is a massive talent of course but hes not a rock or rock n roll artist . Joni mitchell i wouldnt trust on philosophy or anything BECAUSE SHES NOT ROCK SHES FOLK.' and JANIS sure was talented but she didnt seem like the go to girl for answers. TO ME IT DIDNT SOUND RACIST. JUST DUMB. PERHAPS SLIGHTLT MYSOGYNISTIC. BARELY. HW HAS MET THESE FOLKS TOO . IS WENNER A ASS. YES A RACIST. ? I DARE NOT SAY BECAUSE I DO NOT KNOW THIS MAN. AND HEY I BET IF TINA TURNER WERE STILL ALIVE AND DOINNG WELL I WONDER IF SHE FIT THE CRITERIA. BECAUSE IN EVERY INTERVIEW SHE WAS SPOT ON ... BUT YES IT MY SPECULATION. IN THIS WORLD JUST THE PERCEPTION OF BIENG RACIST OR USING A WRONG WORD. OR GOD FORBID. GUILT BY ASSOCIATION. AND ITD BE NICE IF ANY O THOSE OTYER GUYS CAME TO HIS DEFENCE BUT THAT TOO MAY BE TELLING. WHAT A ALL AROUND DISGUSTING MESS.

Certain bands aren't just excluded the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because Wenner hates them. They're excluded because critics hate them too. If you want to know why Grand Funk Railroad aren't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, read Dave Marsh's comments on them in the second edition of the Rolling Stone Record Guide. (And if you want to know why Madonna IS in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, read J.D. Considine's comments on her in the third edition of the Rolling Stone Record Guide. 😡💩)

So you're saying that critics like Dave Marsh should be the sole arbiter of who gets into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? In the 1983 version of the Rolling Stone Record Guide, Marsh savaged the Doors and wrote "Is this the most overrated group in rock history? Only a truly terminal case of arrested adolescence can hold out against such a judgment for very long." Definitely not the person I want selecting bands to enter the hall of fame!

@@mpromislo I'm not saying that rock critics SHOULD be the sole arbiter of who gets into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - I'm saying that, for the most part, they already are. Marsh was one of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's arbiters, and he famously vowed that Kiss would never get inducted so long as he had the power to stop them. He failed. Sometimes the system doesn't work the way Wenner, Marsh and others want it to! 😄

I tend to agree that women are not philosphicaly articulate. You mentioned Joni Mitchel she was the only one that came to mind for me too. Jone Jett...maybe. Black artist are philosphicaly articulate in more of a back handed way then an up front kind of way like Bono or Springsteen does. In other words black artist do not tend to wear their hearts on their sleeves like Bono does.

All these awards shows and "institutions" are a way to make huge money by creating a TV show with mega-expensive talent without paying for it by giving them awards which (supposedly) benefit their careers and stroke their delicate egos. The Oscars, the Tonys, the Grammys, ALL of them. As soon as an award is considered meaningful to a career that award show will go on forever with almost no advertising, very little cost, making millions for the producers of the show.

Oh my. I knew this would really hit you hard, Michael. Please try not to let it drive you into depression… :-P This whole thing is just beyond annoying. RS and the RRHoF aren’t about rock & roll or even music anymore. They’re all about politics and the currently popular narratives and virtue signaling. A pox on both their houses. The woke eat their own and Wenner just became the next course. C’est la vie.

I think asking where his 'friends' are is the wrong question. Friendship doesn't mean you defend someone when they expose themself as a bigot and misogynist. That's a cult, not a friendship. All this does is show that there are too many stupid people in positions of power in every facet of the world.

Isn’t there a possibility that the rest of the board members knew about these sentiments, closely held beliefs, and never did anything about it? Ignored and looked the other way? Or even, dare I ask, share ... the same views? Now Prince’s performance at the RHoF now makes strange kind of sense to me. Perhaps Prince knew of these attitudes and had been racially marginalized as well. Certainly in 1985, Prince was sort of demonized after expressing support and admiration for Reagan after an interview in Rolling Stone. And most recently, through KZbin content, It’s coming to light, the adversity Prince faced, even in recording studios, which may be the reason why he even built his own recording studio AWAY from Los Angeles. I fully agree with you - where are these rock legends to disassociate themselves and clarify that they do not stand by their very close buddy. And again you have to wonder if they knew about these sexist and flat out racist sentiments and never did anything about. It never confronted or put him in line. And let’s go further-further back, to the actual Rolling Stone magazine. Did these attitudes these viewpoints these sentiments drive the magazine not just in the 70s for example but into the 80s 90s etc.??? Where they prevalent at MTV? At record labels, sure, we can't be that naive, but it's seems it may have been an actual SYSTEMIC where even recording studios, and staff members, shared these views. Right? It doesn't just stop at Wenner.
