Super happy to see the Pop in good form, even if he fluffed that 5-3 lead in the second. Best of luck to both guys for the AO! In my opinion watching this match, the factor that makes Sinner better is footwork. They kinda get to the ball at the same time, but Sinner’s stance is better. Popyrin gets to the ball quickly but his hitting looks rushed because his stance is not as ready as Sinner’s. Look how many points he lost by not getting in the proper stance at the net or at mid court. Both of these court locations are advantageous for Popyrin but he ends up losing the point. He also needs to lose some weight. His walking and moving is heavier than Sinner’s. Popyrin is 6’5” and Sinner is 6’4”.

Oh you won't like grass then my friend!, perhaps the French open is more for u
@mendrikaJ14 күн бұрын
I hope you realize the Pace of those courts is slow as f Except Shanghai and Paris, all hard courts slowed down In fact, even Grass slowed down You would Instead need to speed it up to create more offensive players Djokovic and Sinner mastered the Baseline counterpunching and solidity, with an aggressive twist
@maxivic158414 күн бұрын
@@mendrikaJ watch Djokodal matches from Indian Well and Miami in 2011 or AO 2012 at slam level. I’m sorry but there are no HCs even close to that slow on the tour anymore. It’s extremely obvious if you go back and watch some older matches. Sinner is a pace absorber and uses pace, like you said a closed-court counterpuncher, it’s a misconception that he’s some massive pace generator. This style only has a chance of succeeding due to the faster conditions on tour atm. Faster modern conditions help him significantly because he struggles with physicality and is a very one-dimensional player. These days players win rallies by ballbashing down the middle, using the faster surfaces to paper over the flaws in their game while implementing suboptimal counterpunching type tennis which is facilitated by the current playing conditions. Meanwhile slower surfaces require you to have impeccable baseline fundamentals and the ability to outmanoeuvre opponents with subtle changes in spin and direction, none of which is incentivised due to the speed of modern playing conditions in the current baseline era. Faster hardcourt conditions help this physically diminished version of Djokovic too because he can’t generate pace the way he used to but Novak is far more sophisticated than Sinner and was adept in all kinds of playing conditions during his prime years.
