It amazes me how you can see its form before it's painted. I see the brush strokes and think, how is that going to make it look like the desired object? but then all of a sudden, it's perfect and I see it.

Hello! I'm about an hour into this & been looking at that drip on the left side for about 10 minutes. It's funny because I'm visually impaired & been wondering what it is. At one point I even got up to see if my tv was cracked or if something was running down my screen lol. Thank you for the laugh. I'm having a great time lol

Dave, can you please demonstrate how to do lace sometime? I was so excited that you had it in this painting, but I would love some details. I have always wanted to paint fabric and lace, but it seems so complicated.

Dear ChrisandKariAdams9826, This is David's wife, Martha. What a great suggestion! I too like details. But unless it is a painting of lace, too much attention to the details can distract the viewer from the center of interest (i.e. the person wearing the lace). This is why you often see the Masters putting details up front and becoming less distinct as the item moves into the background. But yes! I think it would be a fun study.
