You seem to be seeing the short term lies. The BBC wasn't even independent from intelligence agencies within the UK since the 90s Foreign service BBC is still under control by the intelligence agencies.

His success was set up from the start by the precision he put in the first question. He didn't open up with "tell me all your propaganda" and work from there. He stuck to questioning a specific policy that exposes the hypocrisy, and kept returning the discussion to that policy. Too many allow the conversation to go broad and the truth gets diluted in a sea of nonsense.

I remember, when I was growing up, watching news interviews on TV where this type of push back by the interviewer was the norm. Interviewers were knowledgeable about the topic, and they regularly pushed back when the person they were interviewing gave an answer that they knew wasn't true. Now, its such a rarity that when I see it being done, it's such a breath of fresh air.
