I love watches, really consider myself enthusiastic about them. I've watched tons of videos on the net about all kinds of watches, but rarely did i see a reviewer who actually laughs and mocks during the video about the piece he's reviewing. This Seamaster has an ETA mechanism that doesn't fall short of any other luxury brand quartz watch, except the ones who actually took it as a project like the Longines VHP or the Seiko 9F. its a durable mechanism, its very accurate, and its usually very reliable (I'm sorry about what happened to your dad's watch, but as you said - it was most probably a fluke, in 99.9% of cases the mechanism works just fine and no replacement is needed). People spend sums that are in the 1000's of dollars for watches like this one, because some of them have a very interesting history - this one specifically was the new era Bond watch and many people adore this piece because of it, let alone the Omega history itself which is quite impressive. Coming down on a piece of art and history like this and other watches like it, only because they are the quartz counterpart of the original piece (some watch enthusiasts, believe it or not, prefer quartz mechanism, for many and legitimate reasons), or because the bracelet is something you don't understand (I have no idea what is you complaint about it by the way, it is considered by many as one of the most spectacular bracelets of all time), or because your dad's piece was an unusual fluke... well, i think it is unprofessional.

Objectively, quartz is superior for time keeping ability, durability, and lack of maintenance. On the other hand, at lot of watch collectors (myself included) enjoy mechanical watches for subjective reasons. I like both, but nothing beats quartz for ease of use and accuracy. Most good quartz movements will indicate when the batter is getting low by the second hand skipping two seconds (instead of 1 second ticks). Omega has been making quartz watches since the 80's, although they have reduced their quartz options in recent years. I don't think you can get this watch in quartz anymore (not new).

@J. ANTHONY @Mike Howard A few days ago I'd spend a little over €1000 for a quartz watch and it is close to 13 years old. I can you tell you that I'm loving it, it is the the Omega 22645000. This is the quartz brother of the popular mechanical 22545000. The previous owner did send it to Omega just 2 months ago for a new battery and Omega also did replace the crown and the helium crown with valve. They also replaced several rubber seals and a metal wire that has the same form as the bezel. Does someone maybe know if this is standard with an battery replacement or is this maintenance? The watch did not had the normal metal bracelet (lucky me I like rubber over metal) , but a oem Omega Seamaster rubber strap. The previous owner bought this rubber strap from a local Omega dealer just a little over a year ago and paid €250 for it and this was without the Omega buckle, the dealer replaced the buckle from the old worn out rubber Omega strap. Is the price of €250 for the rubber strap without buckle normal or was the Omega dealer asking too much money for it ? (I have the receipts from the dealer). I like the 22645000 better than the Omega quartz from the video above , especially the sword hands . I also don't like the dot indicators on the newer model but this is all personal. I like your videos and subscribed on your KZbin channel immediately. I do my best with the English language but I'm from The Netherlands so it is not so easy for me.

It was a maintenance. Normally, only batteries are replaced. Quartz watches don't need no maintenance. Maybe once in 15 years or after some abuse or something like that. And 250 euros for a strap is okay. Hi-end watches usually need replacement of straps. Buckles are usually used old, especially on gold watches that have gold buckles. They are removable in all watches. So, everything is perfect. No need to worry. Your watch must last a lifetime, unlike mechanical watches that have a lifespan and need servicing once in four years, otherwise they might not last ten years or they might. It's all random. The more complications they have, the less longevity we should expect. That's the irony, as the most complicated watches with tourbillons and stuff are the most expensive.

Adjusting bracelets is easy with pins or single sided screws. Try adjusting double sided screws on a new watch without the special tool for it. I would say anybody who is at least semi-capable can adjust a watch band that uses pins (even friction ones). I have done it on over 40 watches with zero issues as long as you're not careless that is.

Anthony first of all thank you for your time and your anwser, i agree with you a case is pretty but i hate the movments inside, so can you please tell me why some major brands like omega or some others brands, place a quartz movments in their watches and put price so high ?...in 3 days im going to buy Seiko XSRP667K1 , and i would like your opinion, i would buy SARZ005 but they dont have it in watch stores in my country and i dont trust the online shoping cuz i dont want to end up with a fake.
@JANTHONYCHANNEL
@JANTHONYCHANNEL 8 жыл бұрын
+Denis Pandžić To answer your first question. The reality is because they can. Watch companies exist to make money and if people are willing to pay a lot of money for their watches even with a quartz movement it just means more profit for the watch company sadly. They have no incentive to put a nicer movement in the watch unless people decide to stop buying them. As for the XSRP667K1, it uses a 4R36 movement which is a great movement. It is both hacking (second hand stops to set the time) and hand winding. It should be a great watch.

Hello, Any one know how to change the date on Omega 2541.80.00? My friend just bought the watch without manual. He try to change the date on his watch. It's an Hour hand date set. Your friend found the correct position. You need to cycle the hour hand through the twenty four hours to set the date. This is a good function as it allows you to change time zones without stopping the watch, this maintaining accuracy. A lot of the modern Grand Seiko 9f movements also have this function.

However, I know one can purchase the winders-Blah , blah , blah. However, what is so wrong with using modern technology called a battery. The whole political world is pushing dang cars with batteries!!!-hahahaha. For you to put down quartz and say its never going to be worth anything, is insulting! Its a freakin Omega-really Not going to have value????? If I am walking around with this watch on my wrist, the only person who can tell that it is a quartz watch will be you. 6.06 Divers breathe air not oxygen. Pure oxygen when breathed is toxic below very shallow depths and is only used to decompress typically after technical mixed gas dives. Apologies for being pedantic but all divers laugh when people talk about `oxygen tanks` The helium escape valve is only useful for saturation divers breathing a heliox mix for long periods of time in a submersible diving chamber. This is relevant to a minute percentage of the watch wearing population.

I like mechanical watches too, but objectively, quartz is superior. If you want a nice watch, but also want superior time keeping ability, superior durability, and almost zero maintenance expenses (just a battery change every few years) then quartz makes a lot of sense. It doesn't make sense to me when people say they won't pay over a certain amount for quartz.
