LOL, having also grown up and learned to drive in the snowy midwest, I do not miss the "BLACK ICE" driving situations now that I rarely have to encounter such conditions living in the south. Although winter... how I cherish the cool & dark slowness of the season (can we just linger here for a bit, please...?). And also... I'm so glad you enjoyed going down the Angela Harding rabbit hole! I hope you enjoy the puzzle. 🦢

Talking about the printing art and hearing the quote about letting in the light reminds me why it’s so important to hear other people’s views and takes on things. That was such a lovely permanent addition to my inner dialogue, when I see printing like this I will now get an extra bit of joy thinking about things in a different way than I would normally do. Delightful!

Thanks for another charming and thoughtful podcast. I found sumo oranges in the grocery store last week, bought a bunch and said a little thank you to you in my heart for introducing me to the best citrus fruit.

Angela's illustrations and prints are wonderful. I saw some of her work at The Yorkshire Sculpture Park and bought her book there, it is called A Year Unfolding. In a world full of AI and photoshop, they really stand out, her drawing skills and passion for her work and attention to detail is stunning.

Only the odd dusting of snow here in western Massachusetts. Good and cold though which means multiple pets sleeping on the bed. 😄

Everyone else is getting snow but us in Maine! I think we may have gotten an inch today. I must admit, pregnancy depression and the short days have been getting to me, but I saw you're face and was instantly happy and now up and spinning. You have magik lady.

I just got the "Landlines" puzzle by Angela Harding and I am loving working on it! Although the colors are limited, the texture and linework help to put it together and I love the art so much that I stay excited working on it.

Beautiful discussions and things today. Thank you, Amybeth. When someone asks me what I did on my day off, I regularly don't remember because it's usually spent doing all the things I have to do and I assume that's what everyone else does on their days off. Although, Friday was a very magical day having lunch with a friend. I remember coming away with a magical enrichment that friends bring into your life. ❤

Gooood morning! I realize that I’ve got The Lost Bookshop on my side table…..unfortunately I knit into the wee hours then too tired to read. My mind wanders when listening to audio books. Having said that, in elementary school I used to love being read to. Re: dry eyes, take a soft washcloth and wet it with warm water, place it over your eyes like a compress for a few moments. Very soothing and your eyes feel much better. That’ll help. Thanks for another fun video. What am I doing (have done) this weekend? Living the dream!🎉

Oh man. The snow is beautiful but I think we have enough now. 😳 My daughter was stuck on 465 yesterday going from the airport to her house and managed to take an exit at some point but, the usual 30/40 minute trip took her 2 hours. I was glad to be working on a quilt top otherwise I would have bitten my fingers down to nubs. Not to mention having heart palpitations until she let me know she was home safe. 😅 I’ve been wanting to read The Broken Girls for ages but haven’t gotten around to it yet. I’ve really enjoyed reading some of Simone St. James’s other books. I’ll have to move that one up on my to be read list. Have a warm and cozy weekend with lots of tea and treats!

I've really been loving reading essays since my burnout - I've been a lifelong fiction reader, but when I'm having trouble dealing with the real world, I don't want to try and deal with made up ones too. 😂 It makes it much easier to read if I can read a section and put it down for a while. Much less demanding. I can't remember where I saw The Green Ages by Annette Kehnel recommended (was it you?! lol) but I'm really enjoying that one. And a couple of other books with ecological and - horrors! - political themes.

In grad school I had a classmate who was from N. Dakota, I think, and she would always complain about how us central Ohioans drove in snow. "It's just snow!" Except, it wasn't ever "just snow." It was often snow on top of ice or snow mixed with ice, which is a whole different animal. Your 4-wheel drive won't help you if you start to slide on the ice, girl. I think we got far less snow than you did in this recent event. Just about 6 in total where I am. The streets were cleared by the next day.

I am totally over winter weather, I am a couple hours south of you and have been snowed in since the 5th my neighbors kindly dug out my car this morning. Baking cookies from time to time for your neighbors pays off. I am wondering how I managed to drive a Pinto in the snow and ice, maybe I was braver in my younger years. I am content sitting here watching KZbin, drinking coffee and knitting. Stay warm

Do you use a coverstitch machine for the T shirts? Do you sew the seams with a serger? I have had a serger for years, but I recently got a coverstitch machine, which has really improved hems.

If you like essay collections you may want to try John Chancellor Makes Me Cry by Anne Rivers Siddons. She's a Boomer, but it's still an entertaining read--though I'm Boomer-adjacent. :) She first published the essays in 1972 and when asked to go over them for a 1994 re-release she declined because she wanted them to still convey the person she was at that time.
