I like the titles of these Talia Hibbert books you've been reading. You're doing well with the GEB book. The Ministry for the Future had that effect of being my only book last month for it's content. You're doing so well with your Spanish. I have to admit I've been questioning my French learning and whether I might change to Spanish so I know someone, you, who I can practice with. I always like to see your craft work and enthusiasm. I bought Growing Up Weightless in the Masterworks line which made me smile when you spoke about it.

I love the velvel mirror cowl pattern. I made one a year ago, though with worsted and aran weight yarn, so it's more chunky than it's meant to be. But it's so so warm and lovely and fuzzy. Perfect for windy winter days. I just cast on a second one. This time around with sport weight yarn, which I believe the pattern calls for. It will be a lot smaller, but should still be cozy and warm. The colourwork is very easy to memorise and very addictive. You want to keep going for another round and another round to finish the pattern. Excited to see how yours will turn out.

The colorwork with fluffy yarn is really what drew me to this pattern! I think it's going to be an addictive knit...already thinking about how I'd make a second one!

@@Kalanadi 🤣 Yes! In my head I have already planned out at least another two. I need it in different colour combinations.

Thank Rachel! You are doing fascinating things! Thank you for introducing me to John M. Ford looking forward to reading several of his books. Cheers!

You will probably get to Ford's books before me...at the rate I'm going! But I'm very much looking forward to them.

One of these days, you're going to announce that you're planning to get some sheep so you can take this whole spinning thing all the way to the source of the wool...

I don't know if I could take it so far...but I do know someone who can hook me up with local alpaca fleece...so there's temptation! But seriously, a drum carder is probably next, for making fiber batts.

I just finished a book and have Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute on my TBR, and I think that will be my next book! Thank you for the info!

Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute was such a fun read! I always struggle to read things right when they come out, so I'm glad we buddy read that. I've started on Orient Express, and I'm glad we're reading it slowly since I understand so little of it! 😂 Sush loved I Contain Multitudes (I haven't read it yet, but want to), so he was excited to hear Ed Yong has a new book out. And so exciting that your loom is ordered!

I love An Immense World! Ed Yong is such a great science writer. Not the same, but I’m reading Bixch: Female of the Species by Lucy Cooke and Different by Frans de Waal both about sex and gender in nature and the struggle in biology to rid itself of the Victorian sensibilities concerning it. Thank you so much of the clips of you spinning! It looks so soothing to do. And congrats on your new loom! That is so cool ❤

I was a bit mesmerized watching my spinning footage...it really is soothing to watch! (And to do!) Lucy Cooke's book seems like something I should check out.
