I think it's really sad that this zoo is showing videos of a rapidly maturing male who is reduced to "forcing himself" on a younger male sibling because he should be somewhere else with a female. I have talked to experts from other zoos who say the same thing has been going on between the youngest male and his mother. I realize there is a lack of places to put him but knowing that this zoo was clearly irresponsible in allowing Genki to breed a second time thus setting up the current situation that is not healthy for any of these animals. I am sure my comment will be swiftly taken down because they know it's true. Wild animals, even (unfortunately) those in captivity do not exist for the pleasure or entertainment or education of humans.

Sadly this behavior has been going on for too long already. But first Gentaro learned it from his Dad Momotaro who does the same thing to him. Gentaro even poses for him and backs his bottom in Momotaro's direction. I'm concerned that Gentaro will try to mate with Genki. I think she is also because she makes sure to back away from him and never turning her bottom towards him. 🤔 it's a gorilla thing or so we're told.

Are her eggs healthy? She is obese which makes it harder to get pregnant and even harder to have a healthy pregnancy. She needs to step away from the food by force if necessary. It is an animal thing. Just look in the Ozarks. If they were in a natural habitat he would be gone already hanging with other peer members. They live in this situation because he has no other males let alone a female. Now Kentaro will pass it on. Animals have res amongst themselves. It the zoo that has not fulfilled their commitment to them. In the wild mother son would never mate. He is not going to know what to do if he ever gets placed. He may get attacked for some of his unnatural proclivities and yes Momotaro isn't interested in Gentaro anymore. Kintaro is fresh meat. He prefers his children to their mother and so on it goes.

So this the video, I read others saying Gentaro practically rapes Kintaro. I can tell this is an older video due too the smaller size frame of Kintaro. Yet when those who said such things could never produce a link to a video as proof. Another year has gone by, and I don't mean 2022. Back then it was written in a year or two Gentaro was to be placed in another zoo. I am inquiring now with a question for the zoo, what is common in this situation, as we have here to place them with another place to find them a willing mate?

The only thing that strikes me as aberrant is that Momotaro doesn't intervene, but I can't tell if that's because they're separated or if he just doesn't care even when they are together. It's not a bad thing that Gentaro makes advances on Kintaro, but silverbacks do need to dissuade others in his troop from mating, as it helps prevent inbreeding-not just between brothers, or even between unrelated males, but anyone in his troop, particularly females. Obviously, Kintaro can't get pregnant, so it doesn't pose a risk when he and Gentaro have sex, but if Gentaro ever makes advances on Genki, that would be very bad. Knowing Momotaro's history, it's not particularly surprising that he would be indifferent toward incest. I imagine Gentaro would be a significantly more effective troop leader, thanks to having this frame of reference. A little odd to compile such a long video of the same repetitive act, though, lol. Either way, clearly it isn't malicious and probably benefits their relationship.
