Hi Everyone
This video features four knitting projects I have been working on in January; the Polesden Scarf, Red Robin Socks (except they’re blue!) the Maxine hot water bottle cover and a garter stitch blanket. This is my first video in two years so sorry if I’m a bit rusty! To any returning sunscribers… “Hi and how are you?!” -and thank you for coming back. I haven’t gone in to where I’ve been incase nobody cares lol but I have moved to Somerset now and hope to have more time and space to make lots of things and I really miss telling about my makes! So lovely to catch up with you Eva! Love your socks! What a lovely gift! When I made my marled blanket I went for mod tones and lighter colours to go with the undyed. I think the contrast between the light and dark can look a bit stripy. I think you are right, having a mid tone instead of an undyed would blend more. But it still looks nice as it is. Looking forward to the next video. Ellie x x

So good to see you again, Eva! Always enjoyed your projects and look forward to seeing them again. I think your garter blanket project is looking lovely! It may just be that you don't have enough of a mix of colors overall yet so that maybe it looks not so scrappy yet? I think the light color works just fine with all the colors, and the marling looks pretty good on camera. Sometimes "brainless" projects like that are so nice!

I just came across this video and enjoyed watching you while I was washing up 😂 I just wanted to say I like the scrappy blanket. I think the problem is we want it to look nice and perfect and we have an idea in our head how a scrappy blanket should look and it's not going the way you imagine. So I don't think there is a problem with it. I really like the colours so far.

Hooray, you’re back! Hope all is well with you. It was lovely to see what you’ve been making. I’d be tempted to persevere with the blanket for a while longer to see if it grows on you. I made a scrappy granny shawl recently with a more creamy coloured yarn as the consistent colour all the way through, held double with minis, and really enjoyed how it ended up.

I think your blanket will be fine as you add more colors. I would look at the Bits and Bobs blanket on Ravelry. I made that blanket held double with a similar color to your Aran yarn. The pattern is designed that way as well so you can see many versions of what you are doing and keep your garter pattern. Happy knitting!

Thanks so much-I looked at the bits and Bobs and it is really lovely❤️my blanket has grown quite a bit, it is maybe 2 foot deep now. I did dye the yarn a pale brown, but kept it garter, it’s very relaxing to work on🙂🙂

Hi Eva, how lovely to see you’re back! I so enjoyed your knitting chat and your lovely walk at the end, such a calming beautiful countryside. Perfect for wearing your knits. Really interesting to hear about the hot water covers, I’m so averse to bobbling so will good to hear how your second one fares :) I agree a light brown would be a good choice for your blanket, you could bind what you’ve done off now, add some tassels and have a lovely squooshy scarf 😊 xx

Hi Eva, so glad to see you back! have missed you. Your bags I have are my all time favourite and I always love the little squares of fabric in my tins!!!! Love your projects you are working on. Maybe the throw will look better when its a bit bigger, personally I think the marl always looks better with paler colours ???

I would normally say to frog your blanket if you're not happy but actually I think scrappy projects do often look better the more you add to them. Yay, you're back! It was so lovely to see your video pop up! I had the same issues with a scrappy blanket - it started off looking a bit strange because when I was working it, I was only looking at it close up. Once I got a bit more length on it, and looked at the overall blanket, it came together nicely. Lovely hottie covers!! Thanks for sharing. 😊

Thanks😊He is mostly Cocker Spaniel, but I am sure the other bit is Patterdale! When his hair gets long he has that exact look of whiskery nose, and a very terrier like beard too! X

Oh, Eva, my heart just leapt when I saw that you had posted an episode! I had been thinking about you over the months as I was picking your gorgeous bags to put in new projects and only recently a couple of your podcaster fellows were mentioning you too so we are all in happyland right now! Although I am a bit sad that all previous content has gone, it’s your channel and totally your creative prerogative to do so. I understand what you mean about your blanket and I reckon you got the answers as you were discussing options… dye the yarn in a warmer, closer to your heart tone … and start again. The garter stitch is so relaxing and makes for the ideal mindless knitting but carry on with the new shade might show a difference in the marling which might bother you in the long run. Hello Eva, KZbin suggested your channel, and I am really happy it did. I made the hot water bottle cover, and it was my first experience with colour work, too. It wasn't as scary as I anticipated! With regards to your garter stitch blanket, I think it's going to look gorgeous and if it were mine, I would cry at the thought of ripping it down! I'm obviously not as speedy a knitter as you, that would have taken me days to get that far, not hours, but if you aren't feeling the love, then you should start again. I am making a cosy memories blanket. Would something like that be of your taste? You could still use the white/cream yarn and either make single colour squares or hold it double with your scraps? I believe Ellie has a version of this pattern, and she provides a colouring sheet if you wanted to plot out which squares were to be plain? See you next time ❤
