Yeah, I got some HO trains for Christmas. 1 Atlas RS-3 Central of Georgia, 1 brass Hallmark Fairbanks-Morse H12-44 Central of Georgia, 4 freight cars (1 really detailed Kadee freight car) Central of Georgia & 3 MOW maintenance of way freight cars (1 kitchen boxcar, 1 maintenance boxcar & 1 working caboose) which are all True Scale. Day after Christmas I got another Atlas Fairbanks-Morse H15-44 Central of Georgia. Since I used to live in Jonesboro, GA, I model the Central of Georgia Railway Company. Cheers from an ex-Georgian in eastern TN

As a heads up, i never look for undecs. I soak painted parts in isopropyl, doesnt affect the shell at all, and becomes an undec after light brushing with a soft toothbrush to remove stubborn bits from places like radiators.

My painter would prefer not to strip them as the higher detailed models are difficult to disassemble to paint properly. I will reserve the stripping for only the most sought after models (ST GP30 road slug!)

I try go get undecs when I can but will strip stuff when I have to. Some brands are harder to strip than others, and it's nice to save the effort when reasonably possible.

What a gorgeous layout! I totally love it! It’s too bad that the DT&I was merged into CN! When I see how truly beautiful a graffiti free freight train is, it makes me wonder what it would take to get the plague of graffiti under control? My suggestion is to make the taggers happy by making them paint the freight cars over again!

The real Ohio Central 4027 is actually still operating in it's original maroon on the Ohio Central today (only notable modification is that rear ditch lights have been added at some point before summer 2022), while it's sister SD40T-2s 4025 and 4026 have been repainted into the G&W Borg Orange for the Chicago, Fort Wayne & Eastern and the New England Central, respectively.

Also, the real Ohio Central transfer caboose seen at 14:12 is sadly rotting away today semi-abandoned at the Byesville Scenic Railroad in Byesville, OH. On a real close inspection now, you can actually see traces of Penn Central green showing up under the heavily chipping and fading maroon. I assume nobody that can afford to can be bothered to replace the friction-bearing trucks that are still on it, something the old Ohio Central wouldn't have cared about but the G&W definitely isn't interested in. A modeling opportunity though, if just a small one, I would assume the DT&I would replace the trucks with modern roller bearing ones if you're using it in serious service though.

@@ModernDTI Same here, but I'm not holding my breath. Zemba Bros. owns the track between Byesville south to Derwent now, and from the guys I know that were involved in the Scenic Railroad, they're apparently staunchly opposed to the scenic train, in part due to liability concerns I think.

Love the layout and I continue to enjoy following all the new things you add and do. I wanted to ask what do you use to make your roads. I am looking to get more ideas cause I have been using the spackle compound for years but I am now trying to use styrene on my city but not sure . Any insight would be great

I use balsa or hobby plywood. Hobby plywood is much less prone to warping, but I live in a dry climate so it works well for me. I patch the gaps with spackle. I’ve also overlayed the whole thing with paper on some spots which makes a nice texture without wood grain. Hope this helps ☺️

Seeing the expansion of the roster had me asking… Didn't the MDTI stop using tunnel motors? How many SD60M's will be orange and how many in their old UP colors? Is 708 coming back with its former subsidiary colors? There's quite some I can't list them all at once Frankly, I wish I could've been able to come to the layout whenever I came to LV in September.

We didn’t stop using them, I just sold the models. They were problematic at best. Nice to see that has resolved. All 60Ms will be orange, painted at the Washington, IN shops before being placed in service. There will be no additional locos added in CN colors…the timeframe of the layout is way past that now. Only 603 and 300 will ultimately be left.
