I enjoyed study for obedience, the ominous feeling hanging over it, the family history that hinted at high control religion, the sneaking antisemitism of the town and the almost absurdist humour really worked for me. The style was so meandering it was a little bit of a dizzying read but I liked that.

Also The Fifth Season was mind blowing. I am not the biggest fantasy fan because I get lost but this one had a literary feel and was very politically active which I think you would love

I liked Promising Young Woman and agree with all your points. It’s the only book by this author so far, and I really liked the writing. Hoping to read The Rachel Incident in March. I’m intrigued by Wellness, but I’m currently in a not-wanting-to-commit-to-long-books phase. Haha!
