@@adamjamir2212 I agree. It comes off as an almost comical gesture in the moment, but I have no doubt it was fueled by pure anger at that opening move.

All I could think of after Wakamotoharu's move was the old street fighter announcer going - 'Uhhhhppercut!!' That would have dropped most human beings - Ura came away from it dancing and fists up - 🔥❤‍🔥🔥!

Don't overlook Kirishima's chances as he has faced all the sanyakus and is on a 7 win streak. Kinbozan, Takerufuji & the other two sekitoris with an 8-2 record are yet to face a majority of the sanyakus. Also,Hoshoryu & Onosato haven't faced each other and kotozakara. This leaves Kirishima with the more easier matchups.......

At least it's looking like Kotozakura might get his katchy if he keeps fighting like he did today.

I think it will be 12-3 yusho. So Onosato, Hoshoryu and even Kirishima are still very much in the mix. I think OHO has a very good chance. He already fought top guys so he'll face mostly lower rankers. Unlike Kinbozan and Takerufuji.

Funny enough, Kinbozan has a 100% win rate against Ozeki so far, having beaten Takakeisho and Kirishima once each.

Related to the Ura match: Leading with a full elbow blow to the face; it's obviously allowed. Hakuho famously used it. Elbow blows are not consistent with the honorable spirit of Sumo and should be banned. (Ura's visceral reaction testifies to this) Interesting that the NHK announcer TOTALLY ignored the elbow in the match and in the replay. (wonder why) Ura is the beloved Kung Fu Panda of Sumo, a true joy to watch because he clearly has a good heart. Thoughts on elbow blows, Jason?

@@sumojason even if he managed to pull off a 12-3 yusho? I’ve heard sumo assoc has been itching to get a new yoko. Bcoz i predict kinbozan would flop 2 matches and there would be a playoff between hoshoryu and kinbozan…

The Ozeki have been disappointing this tournament. Was so looking forward to some promotions to Yokozuna. If Hoshoryu wins all his matches to finish 12-3 is it enough for promotion?

This has been a disappointing basho. We thought a Yokozuna may come out of it in Kotozakura or Hoshoryu. Not happening.
