JBG, the way i do it out here on my 10 hr break is after i stopped and the sleeper berth time starts, i will shower, eat and watch tv in the truck then about 3 or 4 hrs into the 10 hr break that is usually when i start getting tired basically coming down off of that adrenaline high from driving 10 or 11 hrs then i will sleep 4 to 6 hrs and get up and do it all over again, i cannot sleep for no more than 6 hrs out on the road but when i get home on my first night home, good lord, i will sleep 7 to 10 hrs. I guess it’s because sleeping on 2 different mattresses.

Limiting hours of service and mandatory rest breaks are for safety. Today on I-75 in Florida semi trucks crashed and killed 7 people. Truck driver is going to be charged in these deaths. 11 hours of driving per day is more than enough.
