was so impressed by Chris Hayes explanation (starting at 26:54) of how news can be manipulated to present what picture you want to portray by carefully selecting what truths you pick to present-so that you don't actually lie, but slant the view in a certain direction--was so clear and well presented. People need to be aware of the type of information they are given, and look at several sources to expose themselves to more viewpoints. Became very aware of this while traveling abroad and seeing international coverage of events in America-what a different view. Unfortunately, many only watch Fox or Newsmax and get that same slant sent to them, and can't tell opinion from factual reporting. Great to know that Chris is aware of the power his reporting can have, and feels accountable for it.

YUP- I said many years ago that FOX was so slanted (fair & balanced what a joke) & like a Republican propaganda network and TA DA - I loved years ago when they had a guest on that said it too ! i think his sole purpose for going on was just so he could make that statement- he was a Professor or some such individual. Just as you said you need to have a variety of sources and to do research - on legitimate sites. For instance, I was so sick & tired of hearing the old gripe about illegals getting welfare etc. so I checked the state requirements (states administer it & set rules) of both Red & Blue states on their Social service sites- I didn't just google it. I checked on the state's own government site. All of them, even liberal California, require an able-bodied (if you have a disability or are past a certain age , like you are 65 and up the rule doesn't apply to you) person to be a U.S. citizen and they have to work so many hours to receive it so NO just sitting around, doing no work & collecting a check is something from long ago - welfare was reformed under Clinton in his first term (obviously FOX has never updated themselves on it because they still make those claims).

The insurrection and the supporters of the thinking that became the insurrection before and after that day have changed my life. I cannot be friends with these traitors. I don't speak to my own brother. I resigned a position and my membership in a Marine Corps group. I stopped patronizing a favorite gathering place. I am horrified. I knew there were people like this. I didn't realize there were so many. Thank you for fighting on what has become the front lines of a war for our democracy.

It's great to have Chris in the show, his format is always passionate. Would segments on what patriotism really is and a compare and contrast of democracy and tfg's autocracy/fascism would be like, be possible? It appears as though there isn't a collective definition of what political theories amongst American's today.

Say what you mean: Americans don't know what words mean anymore. Patriotism is the perfect example of a word that people use to stir up controversy and political discontent, often times being used in a way that doesn't fit the definition. It's not the people that love their idea of what America should be, true patriotism is loving your country for what it is. You can't just take away the parts you don't like and say "only OUR America is the real America" it doesn't work that way. It's definitely not defined by loyalty to one man or even a group of men and the willingness to destroy the land you claim to love for them. Treason is the better term for whatever that is.

I was thinking the same thing about Chris being there. He often says things are weird and this certainly is. I don’t think it’s possible to educate them on that yet. First we have to get them out of the cult and lies. If watching Jan 6 didn’t do it, that really bothers me. All of the excuses. It was exactly what we saw. Our eyes and ears still work, but not for them.

ever since the Lump 'presidency' I also began wondering, what actually is patriotism? that word is thrown around so much these days but it actually lost all meaning. for the GQP the word 'patriot' has become a synonym of 'white supremacist' and somehow they're proud of it.

Thank you for speaking the truth. My only wish is when you speak to older open women or fairly open men who are Trump & GOP supporters, talk to them about doing their own research to find the truth & give them a business card w/a list of websites that are as neutral & honest as possible. Tell them it's their choice, of course, but they seem to be honest & fair & don't seem like the type of people who would want to put a liar in the White House. If they take the card, they may be reachable.

I especially loved seeing the more personal sixe oof Chris Hayes! RAoy, you made an awesome choice of guest, for this subject! Thank you. Only question you didnt ask is If Jordan thinks that the maga crowd watch the daily show. Though he did touch on it when asked if he got recognized at these rallies. Even though the Daily show is a comedy show, I might guess thats it a bit too... sophisticated for the Maga Crowd (please forgive me my somwhat tainted, educated/intellectual prejudice.) It's extremely frustrating from my point of view of expecting our government to function and not be controlled by extremes of any kind and to now have to listen to what happened between portrayed as something other than a direct threat to our democracy. The majority of us out there who don't get on social media and miss inform, lie and ignore reality need to be heard. Our country can not have this happen again and those responsibile have to be held accountable. And that includes our former president who bears the most responsibility. Or we won't have a country anymore.

You may be unaware of what people will do when a camera is present. Ask the extreme sports people in order to understand excessive social impulsivity. This means, that hate arouses them to say things and reframe their personalities behind violence - THIS impulsivity is significant in driving individual impetus toward increased violence and divisiveness. Think of "cinnamon challenge" and other attempts to gain social visibility, and THEN think of TWO pounds of finger pressure, easily accomplished by a baby. (While the initial impulse chambering a bullet and firing it is about 4 lb. all subsequent, or cocked pistols are designed for the minimal pressure, in order to steady the aim. THIS is why guns should be eliminated from public possession - it's easier than drawing a breath.)
