The hilarious thing is that legally, the only one who can decide whether the defendant can testify is the defendant. His counsel can advise him but it's his decision alone whether he takes the stand. The judge is required to make this clear to the defendant in court, it'll be in the transcript.

@@joeb134 I completely understand your feelings. Most of the registered voters in the small town I live in don't vote in the primary. Problem is that many other important things are added to the ballot. The people benefiting from all the added millages , new millages, new ballot proposal's have the yes vote lock up in there favor. I'm 72 I don't know what the answer is to having our vote benefit families and our country.

That said, please remember that in a two party system, a protest vote is functionally a vote for the person you like least. Liberal protest votes put Trump in office last time. I’d highly encourage you to make a compromise on your vote, and protest in a different way, perhaps by going to a protest, or supporting a local politician that better supports your views, even if they don’t have a chance. Both options are bad, but they are not *equally* bad.
