I love how you’re so relaxed with your budget in the sense that you set big goals but you aren’t super hard on yourself/yourselves if you go over budget with things or don’t quite reach a savings goal. It’s a message I need to surround myself more with this year - give things a good crack but be kind to yourself if you didn’t quite achieve them! You’re always better off trying than not trying at all 🤗❤️✨ Thank you!!

exactly!! the fact that you're trying is a great first step 🫶🏼 you've got this!

I have one category that includes both take away and eating out, because I don’t have a reason to know how much I spend on each individually, I consider them to be the same thing

I'd put yochi as eating out because to me, takeaway is more like a whole meal that I've got delivered because I couldn't be bothered cooking or didn't have enough in the pantry. I have a takeaway beverage category which includes coffee, matcha, boost, bubble tea, etc. because it got too hard to seperate them.

For me, things like frozen yoghurt or bubble tea are categorized into Eating out because I didn't order in. I got it whilst I was out, even if I didn't eat right then and there.

Eating out and takeaway is the same in my budget. Anything thats not a grocery shop is takeaway/eating out.

We have eating out = $200 a month for our family that we can sit and dine (not as common with 2 young kids) or buy takeaway and anything else (bubble tea etc.) comes out of our personal spending for the week ($200 each adult) **I know this is high BUT it works for us

Love it! So motivating Ella. I 100% support the increase of your coffee budget. We aren't here just to make and save money . . . living and loving life with your hubby is so important ❤ I love that you share a balance x

Love the rests I do love a spreadsheet. Ella you live your rich life and 😝 to the comments spend on what you love cut mercilessly on things you don’t whatever that means to you. I think your coffee budget is crazy lol but I hate coffee 😉 and I find tea never tastes as good made out of the house so I rarely buy takeout drinks the occasional hot chocolate. But I spend on my nails every month and others would think that’s a crazy thing to do. It’s your rich life you live it ❤

Yes eating out is tricky with subcategories... Same could be said about social/entertainment/alcohol... They could all run into each other ... I've shown my Dad one of your budget spreadsheet in the past and he was a bit confused, asking questions like "What if you go out and be social with your friends and eat dinner and then get dessert afterwards to bring home" 😂 (the life of an overthinker 🤭) Also, are there any driving goal updates? 💖

Anything I get out whether it's coffee or food, is under eating out for me :) same for fast food and take away

Take out/dining out - if we sit down to eat there, I put it down as dining. But otherwise everything else goes into take out.

I'm new here and love your content Ella! I started off with your episode where you lost your job last year as my partner lost his job the day before Christmas. My plan was to quit mine as it's toxic (which can't happen now until he's back up and running) so things have been a bit stressful (I was having a cry lol) but feeling a bit better now and keen to do a reset and focus on the controllables! This was therapy for me, thank you x

I love your videos and the way you budget. How do you know what to estimate for budget for each item or did you track your spending first. I have bought several different budgeting templates but haven't been able to use them because I don't know how to use Excel or google sheets. I think I asked you once if you wouldn't mind making a instruction video on his to set up the template, how to add more lines if need be etc. If you can that would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to find an easy but automatic way of keeping track of my spending each year.

I just moved in with my boyfriend and we’re reaaaally struggling with our grocery budget :( we like to eat relatively healthy and my boyfriend eats like a frickin horse (he eats about twice what I do). If anyone has tips for me 🙃🙃🙃 Or maybe we should just accept inflation and set our budget a little higher… It’s €100 per week in Belgium for us two, groceries being food and also stuff like detergent, toilet paper…
