At the beginning you mention about lounge access. Although Cathay Lounge is not included, BA Galleries Club Lounge at LHR and Sakura Lounge at HND are allowed to be used as long as you don't upgrade to Premium Economy at the airport.

Thanks for posting this review James. It is a product that I was keen to see as it`s an option I`m considering for an upcoming trip. Premium Economy seems to have many different interpretations according to each individual airline, and most end up offering a real mix of upgrades from the basic economy product. Some offer dedicated cabin crew, some offer an option from the business class menu, some serve drinks in glassware etc. Probably the best premium economy products are those of Air NZ or Qantas who include all of these features. Japan Airlines still does a decent job of it as it indeed does across all of its cabins, and I would be happy to travel PE with them. Best wishes for the festive season James.

Thanks Pierre, Yes I find the JAL seats in premium better than what BA or Virgin offer, but the food is better with them, though they don't serve real Champagne, but the likes of LH, AF also have a nice option. I really need to try NZ on LHR-LAX in PE at some point, but they are stopping the service after 30 + years which is sad. I hope all is well, Happy new year to you.

@@Whenitraveltheworld Yes the NZ ending of the LHR services surprised me as it a route I`ve flown a few times with them. I believe that they now carry just 7% of the total passengers travelling between AKL and LHR as there are so many other carriers servicing that route. I understand they plan instead to commence AKL - EWR nonstop services.

I took JAL premium Economy from JFK to NRT in 2010. I see they have improved upon it, & it wasn't bad in 2010.

What do think of the seat when it is fully reclined? Is it going to be uncomfortable for you like you will slide down ish? I am 1.70m and I find it not bad to sleep face up, however i find it is quite uncomfortable when it full on max recline. What do you think?

The meal looked good but you are right BA and AF always offer something from the bizz class menu additionally. Appetizers or mains.. Great legroom in that premium economy and champers and then.... just the ordinary food. Mind you that still looked good. I'd still say the legroom and the drinks more than made up for it, but then again no cost per mile shown. How does that premium premium economy compare cost wise to premium not so costly?

Hey Andrew, This set me back 30,000 BA miles per person one way and about $149 in taxes per person, so to me it was really good value and a good way to use BA miles. Hope that helps a bit.

I dunno. Those hard shells that don't recline are SO hard to sleep in. I remember doing the AirFrance 777 PE hardshells and just GHASTLY for sleeping.

You often fly with Japan Airlines from London to Tokyo or vice versa, why don't you fly for once in a while with ANA, it's national carrier from Japan too. So you can compare them which one of them has the best service and product .. Btw it's nice video.. Thank you..
