you can tell they put in effort to design both the interior and exterior of the train...it's more than just a ride for them, it's an experience...and that makes all the difference...

I can't get over how orderly & precise the Japanese are! Their trains are an exquisite work of engineering and I would love a chance to ride them!

The biggest advantage Japan's trains have is the freight trains do not get right of way, unlike American trains, if Amtrak owns the track, it's mostly on time, but if they travel on another companies track, freight has priority.

Thank you! I especially liked all the time you gave to showing us the scenery! I feel that some train vloggers spend so much of their video's running time on all the details of the train facilities and food that the scenery gets shortchanged. Whenever I've ridden trains myself, I spend almost the whole ride glued to the window - the scenery is my favorite part of the ride.

Resort Hybrid? Not familiar with that kind of trains, but sounds cool!! I can listen an engine in some parts of the video and i can see the electric lines and no engine sound in other sections! Perhaps I saw it before, but never pay attention until now, hehehe

If I ever win the jackpot on the lottery, I love to travel around Japan on your public transportation My other reason to visit would be, to attend the High School Bands performing, the best school bands in the world,my favourite is the Kyoto Tachibana high school. Kuga san, what period of the year was this video shot? I'm going to Tohoku in early December, and I am not sure whether or not it will be a good time to take Resort Shirakami. Does the train make prolonged stops in scenic places? Would you suggest breaking the trip with an overnight stay somewhere along the route?

A couple of questions. I notice that part of the track is electified and others aren’t, and it sounded like the train is deisel electric - does it switch between being powered by the above electric power and deisel electric? Also with the switch back - do the passengers actually change the directions of the seats themselves?

I think they mean in order to get a seat, you *must* reserve it, and you can't just sit wherever, not that every single seat has actually been reserved.
