Love your videos. So inspiring to see that there is still some people traveling during Covid. I have a couple of questions. We mostly see you on your bikes. When you stop to see the cultural sites (I assume you do stop!) how do you keep your bikes and belongings safe? Do you have any good tips about "banking" (getting money and using it in each country, etc..) while traveling. Thanks!
@marksadventures38894 жыл бұрын
Great stuff. It's always terrible having to wait for bureaucrats, I feel like just asking how much the bribe is today, as most of the time that's the real problem. I'm not sure how bad the problem is in Japan or if they have one, Africa is terrible and right now NOT the place to be for Europeans. I am trying to see if i can tour next year from Norway to Greece, then further if time and finances allow. Soon I will retire and then it will only be money to get in the way, have bike will travel. Thanks for sharing your time and travels with us. Arigatou gozaimasu.
@WheelstoWander4 жыл бұрын
In Japan we didn't experience anything like this. In Africa (not on a bicycle) I did experience a lot of bribing, sometimes with the threat of a machete or machine gun. What a great thing to look forward too, who knows we might bump into each other somewhere on the road!

Hi guys great video. I found you on KZbin recently while i was doing research for my next bike trip. I am planning (as soon as lockdown ends) to cycle from my home just outside of London to Ho Chi Minh where i will take a short flight to the Philippines and cycle to El Nido on the island of Palawan. You’re video’s have been incredible to watch and have really helped me with my planning. I wanted to ask if there was any particular places to avoid, or a route that you could recommend? Or if anyone on here has any insight at all I would be grateful. I have been doing bike trips for the last 8 or 9 years and have cycled all over Europe but i have never been outside of it. One of my main concerns outside of Europe is camping or finding accommodation (and the cost of this). I guess wild camping is the most affordable but as a solo traveler with no experience of the places i will be travelling through it is quite a scary thought 😂 the bit that concerns me the most is the stretch between Turkey and India. how did you find wild camping outside of Europe? Were there any countries that you would advise against wild camping, or any countries that were good for wild camping?? Or any particular places i should avoid in general. If anyone has any advice for a trip like this i would love to hear it. Many thanks and all the best!!

Idk when you filmed this/traveled through there but please be cautious about germs to protect yourselves and others. Biwako is a beautiful area. I took a road trip from Yamanashi to Shikoku and the lake area was stunning. I got to camp next to it and enjoy a few touristy shots, unfortunately the fastest way to Kyoto is a road further away up the mountain range, which gave great views but you don't get a sense of the towns. Tokushima is famous for ramen and the Naruto whirlpools, if you have time and visit Kochi go to the market! And if you're doing the Shimanami Kaido (as cyclists surely you must! If you're fit it might take a day, I took 2 with a dog) stop at Dogo Onsen before leaving Shikoku. If you're leaving from Osaka and you do the Shimanami Kaido, you'll pass Himeji on the way back. Japan really is perfect for bike touring imo
@WheelstoWander4 жыл бұрын
Hi, it was a while back when we were cycling here! Of course we are aware of what is going on and try to be careful. We agree that Japan is a beautiful and easy country for touring. It seems you do not know how Japanese people feel, specially when foreigners do not follow the rules. They are unhappy. They basically never point it and never directly to you. You're complaining about booking a trip and not getting a discount price during a worldwide pandemic? Maybe time to go home, reduce the risk of you getting it without symptoms and spreading it wherever you go? Most people doing long tours seem to have cancelled their trips? Ask yourself why you are still travelling?
@WheelstoWander4 жыл бұрын
Don't judge if you don't understand the full situation. We're many months behind with our video's to be able to put out what we think is quality content for people to enjoy. The coronavorus didn't even exist back then. Apparenty it's easy just to assume that we're irresponsible people, while actually we flew back home to put ourselves in voluntary self isolation. What they called the discount prize at the airport was the regular prize on internet. They only wanted to give me an overly prized ticket because I had to book at the ticket office on the airport, due to their failing system on the website.
@26realmc4 жыл бұрын
That’s great that you did that so maybe add in your notes that it was filmed earlier. You posted it April 5th but nothing to mention it was not in the current situation. Some other dumb asses might think if it’s safe for them it’s safe for us.
